Tank/APC gunner sights

Steel Beasts and A.C.E to Arma have different, more realistic gunner sights than PR has. They're placed differently (it's on top of the turret or on the tip of the barrel) and can't zoom out as far as you can in PR.

The CR2 in PR used to have something that was similar to this, but it was changed for some reason.

This is what the sights look like in A.C.E, and should look like in PR too. Notice that I'm zoomed out here, and that it's equilient to being zoomed in in PR. And of course that the optics is placed on the tip of the barrel, not at the bottom of it. It makes it much easier for the gunner to determine if the terrain, trees, etc are blocking the cannon.

ok... so the point of this sudjestion is to make the camera above the barrel and cant zoom out as much? Im not sure if thats realistic. Making refrence from another Video game isnt exactly what i call Real life.

Plus the ability to zoom out all the way sorta represents the tank commanders ability to see 360 degrees all around the tank, zoomed in or out.

A.C.E is highly realistic, and Steel Beasts is a pure tank simulator. So, yes, it is realistic. Sorry I didn't make that clear. And what does the tank commander have to do with this? I'm talking about the gunner sights. The driver and commander have been fused in PR, that's why you have the 360 optics in that position.

there was discussion about the Cr2, apparently it was a differnet camera thats above the turret, iirc, maybe the infra red.

like on the m1a1 also I think

I believe the C2s barrel mounted camera was removed because players were exploiting it. Since the barrel has no collision mesh, the gunner could stick it through solid objects and see things on the other side.

I thought it does have a collision mesh? I've actually been killed when a CR2 hit me on the head ingame

They could always give it a collision mesh.

It has one. Turning it around in the middle of the bridge on Al Kufra back when the brits were there meant instant death.

Should the camera picture really be round? Shouldn't it be square because the crewman is sitting inside the APC/Tank looking at a screen?

It is round when looking through a gunners or commanders primary sight, the only time it appears square is when sitting back and watching the action through a screen, but if you are relaxed enough to do that, you won't be fighting ;)

I would like to see that changed if it's realistic. It would create more teamwork as the commander/driver would be responsible for finding targets for the gunner. Right now, the only advantage the commanders camera has is it's a bit higher and can rotate faster.

Ooooh, okay, so it's like a scope? I thought it was just a live feed video camera.
