M4

i think the M4 needs a little tweekin, ive been outgunned by about every gun. when its not that i walk up behind them and just down right point black full autothem and dont go down. maybe not on power, just tweaking the accurracy a little its my most used gun but i do better even with submachine guns.

also i dont know how the m24 is working for everyone else but ive been at about 40meters with a guy in the jeep turret and it takes about 4 shots for him to go down either the shot is wayyyyyyyyy off or he just takes long to die. and no its not my aim because he is stationary so it doesnt take a rocket scientist to put the little cross on his head.

If you were standing you will miss.

And I can honestly say that from up to 100 metres I have taken guys out of turrets on first shot every time, with each sniper rifle.

It will probably just take a while for you to get used to PRMM rifles.

the M4 is a carbine, not a assault rifle. a carbine has a shorter barrel and is basically made for close / medium combat.

the accuracy of the m4 at long ranges yes should be poor in real life, reason why you cant hit any 1 very well. Try it on single shot you will have more luck.

if you spray bullets into someones back with it, they will have no chance. Its extremely good at close combat.

If you want a long range weapon, try a assault rifle like the M16.

I'd be nice if some weapon sway could be implimented in BF2, its there a little bit when you walk while aimed. Could there be some how to impliement that into the game when you are standing/crouched? I don't like how the sniper rifles are inaccurate when you are standing, when in real life its not actually the rifle thats inaccurate, its the persons inability to keep the rifle steady because he/she's standing. But in real life you just wait until your crosshairs get in the right place to shoot, you can't really do that in PRMM cause the rifle's just inaccurate. I don't know if this would be really hard to do or anything, but just a suggestion. I just see that the sway code is already kind of there when you are walking while aimed.

but ive been prone with the m24 and it will take me like 4 shots to even hit the guy, and again im not that far off maybe 40-50 meters. yes the m4 has shorter range but that ive seen the AK kill me with the first two bullets that hit, at twice the distance as the carbine, now the m4 has about a 75-100 meters advantage to the ak so why do i have to shoot him so much at that distance if they arent even going to die

Yea thats the thing tho i sprayed them in the back point blank and they wont die, all they do is turn around dive and shoot and ill die with the second bullet.

i really really dont like the dive and prone thing its really rediculous when guys do that. they kill you so easily, and while your there shooting a guy two or three mags into it you die with a few rounds.

one suggestion tho, i think they should lower the spawn time because when ur there waiting ur 40 sec to spawn, only to have the dumb server spawn you right infront of an enemy and kill you again.... yea well some of you know this.

no joke i was on a map i died, and respawned at a point get shot in the back, this happened about 3 times per spawn (there was two i tried both same thing happened on both) i ended up waiting about 7 minutes before i got to play again really annoying

Are you waiting a few seconds before firing?

Actually I can engage a target around 250 meters standing up. And even farther out prone. It's not that hard.

Hex give it a couple of days to get used to new weapon physics then see how it goes.

With the M24 I suggest you wait for your target to stop and then hold your crosshairs perfectley still on him for 4 seconds before firing. Im not really sure if it infact does take that long for the deviation to settle but it definately has a mental effect which causes you to slow down and wait for that perfect shot.

It sounds kind of cheesy but patience is the key with the M24. Just slow down and take your time. Also, dont aim for the head. Its not necessary as one shot to the chest area will kill a man. This also gives you a larger target to aim for. Happy hunting and good luck.

So.. i shall wait for medic healing other guys? ;]

but i mean how can you wait if the saw can take you out from just as far off with a spray of bullets??! when you are bearly letting the crosshair rest.
im one of the most patient people when it comes to this, because i know, nothing in any game is perfect so i take my time and try to always line it up, but i can bearly do that 15% of the time because ill get taken out so easily. i wont even know im being shot at before im dead

Now you say just use the Saw then, no im not about spraying im about tactics and precision shots, but i cant do this when the weapons arent precise at their effective ranges :(

That's fine and all but it's not so fun/realistic when the SVD-user can get off three or four times as many shots in the same time you get off one (including the "holding still" time.) :-\

exactly the svd can hit you with the first bullet a second into scoping. also giving the fact that its semi-auto and basically has the same stopping power as the m24.

Well when you're proned your head is the biggest target, and as an M24 sniper that's the position you're probably in. If another sniper shoots at you, the chances are they will hit your head.

yes but considering the fact that you have to wait for the sway to settle as to that of the svd which is basically point and shoot. if you fire too early with the m24 your dead, if you take too long to fire you dead. just givin some hints ;) ;)

I have to second Hex's claim that sometimes enemy guys survive way too many point-blank or near-point-blank shots... I can't count how many times in the past two days I've gone up behind someone and put 3, 4, 5+ rounds into their bodies from 1-5 feet away and they turn around and one-shot me. I know body armour can save lives but unless these guys are on some serious cocaine they should go down in 2-3 shots MAX...

Remember the video of the American soldier getting sniped by an SVD in Iraq? Initially he was floored by the shot to the chest but survived, got up and high-tailed it to cover. I guess it's impossible to recreate the effects of being shot and being utterly winded by it, but not being killed...

This is a reality mod. DOn't run around like you would in vanilla if you want to get kills. Either join a squad, or do it slow on your own. Get to a good spot, steady your rifle for a few seconds, and then fire. Also remember about leading etc.

Is there any way to have proximity related damage? I highly doubt the BF2 engine supports it, but most weapons fired at very close ranges would ruin your day. At the moment, they do the same damage whether you were 10ft away or 1000ft away.

I find that the red dot scope makes the M4 a great long range weapon. You have to be prone and set on semi-auto of course, but I've shot my fair share of MEC from a long range with it.
