A change to Xtract

Thanks for this awesome game mode!! Just one thing, US are a little bit underpowered, cause all Hostals are AT. So when passing one of the bottle necks on maps youll get fired at by atleast 20 AT rockets.
So my idea is simple just remove AT or make a maximum AT kits, like FH did for BF1942, only three persons could shose the specefic kit. Another solution would be to have AT kits that you'll have to pick up.
Anyway it would be lot fun whitout AT kits aswell.
Or simply add light AT weapon like AT4, and make it limited to one shot only.
Thanks for this great mod, and please add Remington 11-87 back in the game.

I agree, ATs are horrible when you're in the SUV, everyone is the class.
Limiting the no. of kits really is difficult, but rest assured the Devs are working on it...

If RPGs were used, they'd be a major help. The swerving Eryx missile is a pain for SUV drivers, but a straight firing RPG would pose more of a problem for the user as they'd actually be required to predict the path of the SUV.

FH never had classlimits, they restricted AT weapons to pickup kits on certain maps but I've heard it's pretty hard to code pickup kits in BF2? I thionk I read something about it on the bfeditor forum a while ago.
And I agree about everyone and their brother being AT in that gamemode. It's a but too much. Same as Jungle fever where 90% of the US team uses ths spray and pray canons.

But if the team trying to extract the SUV even tried to remotely work together you wouldn't have this problem. But of all the times I have played extraction so far I haven't yet seen the US team work together.
If you got 2 hummers in front of the SUV, 2 behind, with the little bird flying above, AT's could be easily spotted and taken out with any of the 4 hummer guns or people in the little bird.
But all people do is spawn, jump in the hummers, drive a few of them off, then someone else gets in the SUV and just drives off on their own and the heli just flies about aimlessly.
Extraction is such an awesome mode if the team works properly together.

Malik, I agree. A non-locking RPG would be interesting. If Xtract maps were changed from a MEC enemy, to a Somalian-mob-from-black-hawk-down style enemy, it would be interesting, and more realistic. Sorta.

And this is why I think the AH-6 should be implemented on Xtract maps like Karkand. There is absolutely NO way to get out of that hell hole no matter how much teamwork is involved. The lead Humvee is always going to hit mines, which will create a roadblock, and then the SUV is always going to get an AT rocket in his face.
But having an AH-6 strafing the hell out of that train would be an extreme help and possibly give the US enough time to either disarm some of those mines or drive around the suicide Humvees corpse. Where they would then get up to Hotel and have to do it all over again.

Then get some AT guys on wreck clearage duty. An AT rocket normally toasts a wreck, not to mention when you pop slams on them.
Had some fun the other day sitting on the side of a LB dropping SLAMs over the train wreckage area. The pilot was assault so I was just dropping them like the wind. Then I did the same with smoke grenades as assault. I managed to blanket the whole train wreck area.

We're working on some class and gamoe mode tweaks.
I'd like to see a light at weapon that was unguided for all factions and then remove the guided at weapon from the xtract modes.
Needs more investigation, but we do realise there are issues with this game mode and class balances... we knew there would be lots to elarn from this and we're uh .. hopefully going to learn from it

If the US team hunted down the AT guys then they cant fight back, work as a team and it will be much better.

^ True, dropping a squad neer a blockade will easily take the opposition out because 90% of them have pistols.
Tried and tested, it works very effectively.
edit: to add the one thing I dont like about extraction is almost everyone on the US side thinks they have to rush to the extraction point with no planing at all. Thats the main reason its so easy to destroy the VIP.

So so so true. The area restrictions for the enemy arent just to stop them from camping/rushing the SUV spawn, the area restrictions also give the US team a safe area. The safe area should be used efficiently, a smart team would gather, sort out who's in which vehicle, where each squad is going, what role each squad is playing and how each squad is going to do so. The extraction game mode can be extremely shit, and can also be extremely fun - it all depends on the IQ of the players.

excatly, that is the whole point of them. Also to stop the enemy from camping the start/finnish so they dont blow up the SUV every time it spawns nor surround the flag with C4 and mines

A couple of games on Karkand 2 were spoiled by some kamikaze MEC soldiers rushing into the uncappable area and doing some damage when we weren't ready. That maps probably my least favourite for Xtract because the USMC can spawn behind the MEC and end up ambushing you.
