I just thought of the spectre gunship that was on one of the BFV maps, wouldnt that be a cool to have one on a PR map?

it would have to be really slow moving and be able to reach high altitudes.
Check out the pages i found http://www.fas.org/man/dod-101/sys/ac/ac-130.htm

this is a very cool aircraft, and its addition has been talked about, but i wouldn't expect it untill after PR (not prmm) has come out, so at least 6, if not more months untill it's made into the mod (again, if it is decided to be added)

While it would be cool, realistically I think it would be a huge clay pigeon for people to shoot at. Either that or it would effectively be a weapon of mass destruction with the map sizes of BF2.

Reworded for clarity.

It probably is too big for pretty much all the BF2 maps. And since to bring its weapons to bear it has to make only left turns it would be a "clay pigeon" most of the time. That's why they operate at night when and when air superiority/SEAD has been established. At Ras al Khafji, AC-130 callsign "Spirit 03" was lost when it stayed aloft until daybreak to support the SOF operating in the city; they were shot down with a shoulder fired SAM.

And what was that about bringing weapons to bear? If it takes up the hole map then theres no room for weapons :D .
Anyway are they still armed with those howizers along with the other weapons because the recoil meant that wind deflector on the nose had to be used?

The plane itself wouldn't take up the entire map, but it would have to turn around within the space of the map. It would basically have to circle around the edge of the map in the same direction for the whole round. Like NASCAR, only not boring, takes skill and spectators are guaranteed to see an explosion.

Yes, the Spectre (AC-130H) and Spooky (AC-130U) are both armed with the 105mm howitzer and 40mm Bofors cannons. The Spectre also has twin Vulcan 20mm rotary cannons and the Spooky has a single 25mm GAU-12 rotary cannon (the same kind used on the USMC Harrier II and in their LAV-Air Defense; it fires the same ammunition as the Bradley's 25mm Bushmaster cannon).

Who said i was talking about the plane 8) .

NASCAR is somethink i dont understand, i have only watched it in the past for crash inspection reasons ;) , does anyone care who wins more than who dies!?

Edit: If there ever is a C-130 it should be a static for an airport map and if it is able to fly -- i want Vulcan bombers for the MEC ;) .

Here's an idea: Fuck arty, Call in a badass Spectre gunship to rain lead on your enemies.

Another idea (one that worked well in DCR): have a map based on recovering/securing a downed Spectre gunship, if it was modeled to scale, then you might even see some fire fights inside the gunship wreck.

realistically though, if they don't shoot it down, whoever is down on the ground that the spectre is aiming at will be dog food, and considering that spectre can loiter around for quite some time, that's practically death sentence for the poor sod on the ground who failed to shoot it down. Might as well as end the game then at that point. An airstrike at least pass by, and artilerry doesn't rain lead to your position, but this grim reaper circle around the area like a vulture and butcher anyone that is on the target area... that's really mean i think.

Why don't we just have something like on CoD4 where if we reach a certain point or something we unlock a Artillery function that allows a squad leader or the commander to use all the AC130's guns for a limited time

Just like that one level in CoD4 or like in Modern Combat 2 multiplayer.

Commander could use it in that new UAV deal thats coming with the next update
