i have been wondering about this quite a while and i was hoping someone could answer this for me.

when i play muttrah, i often try to get an apc, no matter what side I am on.
now i always hear people saying that the US apc is so much better. the thing is in a head on engagement where i am driving the mec apc i always seem to come out on top.
now what i usually do i aim the armor piercing bullets that it has against the turret of the us apc and it seems to me they are firing at my turret. now for some reason, they seem to take heavy damage before i do (usually their turret gets disabled) and i can tell my driver to drive around and finish em off.

To give an example, I was driving around and we battled another apc, they got destroyed and we lost our tracks. Since no one wanted to repair us, my driver went to get a truck. Anyways in the meantime another apc rolled up and i couldnt see any smoke on them. now the gunner was looking the otherway so i got a few shots in before he fired back but i still managed to destroy them.

so i wanted to know if someone could tell me which one of these apcs is stronger and which can destroy the other faster.

Well, in my experience mostly the LAV-25 manages to beat up the BTR, since even if the gun overheats the gunner can switch ammunition types and keep pounding the BTR.
When i've been gunner/driver, i've never lost to a BTR in head on engagement, im not sure is the turret the weak spot on the LAV, probably since 1 shot to the rear side of the turret from RPG-26 managed to destroy it (did it myself and what it looks like that the APC was undamaged)

But who knows, they're deadly in right hands.

I find that the BTR can win if it shoots the LAV wheels.

ALso the BTR tens to win in moving engagements as the LAV has a lower ROF and misses more as a result.

The LAV though wins in a straight up fight

Well, i don't really have problem on hitting a mobile target from moving stance, esp if i keep communicating with my driver and know what he's going to do, i can pretty much hit 95% accuracy on the BTR. Probably side effect from firing and hitting mobile targets with the tanks in FH2..

anyone got the statistics on armor, health, weapons etc?

I find that I win in a BTR more. Since there is a lot of buildings, the APCs are usually constantly moving and I think the BTR is superior to the LAV while moving.

BTR can win if LAV was damaged or managed to open fire first, so you can unload one belt from KPVT before LAV starts to fire back, add here some buggy weak point of BTR in 0.86 version, while spot from LAV turret, where you could kill it with .50cal was removed
i saw once how BTR shreded fully repaired LAV in 2 second but i'm too lazy to find those spots
from my personal experience LAV wins more often than BTR+more effective versus infantry
AAR:we had a funwar nearly 1 month ago, i was LAV gunner, after 2h30m we were destroyed only once(another death is not in APC) with HAT, killed 7-8 BTRs, some trucks and FBs and i cant say enemy team were noobzorz, they organized pretty good AT work, lots of mines around city, LATs were pain in the arse, we were hit nearly 8-10 times(not counting misses), but always managed to fall back to repair station


conclusion: my choice is LAV-25(or BMP-3 if there is one on map :lol

Yeah LAV is the stronger APC, once my gunner took out 2 BTRs at once, was crazy. Though the BTR does win if you hunt in pairs and both get first shot off, ROF is immense.
