Hello people!


I jumped back onto XP from Vista yesterday.

I have bought BF2 via the EA Download Manager, so I DLd the game and installed PR. Also I made a test-run, PR works fine.

I want to use the tool named" widescreenfixer", which does not work with the EA downloader bf2.exe, so I used to have that memory-patched RETAIL BF2.exe on vista with a mounted mini-image. It worked just perfect. The game ran fine and I had proper widescreen with the WSfixer tool.

Now on XP when I try to use the memory-patched retail BF2.exe the application just hangs at 45MB memory usage (taskmanager) and keeps one of my 4 cores 100% busy...

Forever, nothing happens.

Really odd, since it worked perfectly under Vista.

BF2v also does not launch, something is going totally wrong with this exe, but it is really the same I used just a few days ago on my old OS.



Any ideas my friends?

That's how I used to play PR on Vista.


After getting crashes at the end of loading big maps I started using the memory-patched exe file.



Anyway, I tried again and still, nothing. BF2 does not crash, it just hangs there doing nothing.

All I see is the pretty spash screen, after this I see my desktop all the time, no flashing at all. And the BF2.exe in the task-manager, eating ~ 45mb RAM and 25% CPU power (1/4 cores).


Embarassing! xD The game is not optimized for vista, but does not start on XP, lol.

No? Nobody?


Oh come on, I am so f*cked if I can't play my favorite game anymore. >.<

Arghh, how can this even be? Damn buggy stuff.

Did you answer the question, are you using the EA downloader version of BF2?

Yes, I am using the downloadable version, as I say in my first post.

But I replaced the BF2.exe with the retail memory-patched one to use the widescreenfixer and the memory patch.

However, I messed around with my profiles and found out that I have to delete "profile.con", make a new profile, retrieve and then paste in controls etc.

What a small thing...

i have problem to but its with patch 1.41 and when i start the game i login but it goes black then goes to desktop same with sandbox and PR 860 when i tried with PR it says some with BF2.exe but this will only happen when i go on multyplayer im trying to find some where to download a new bf2.exe i deleted the old one can some one help me pls
