Hey all,
I don't usually complain at all, but here it goes.
Lately there has been an increase in vanilla newbs.

I heard something about a message from EA in vanilla to get PR. Can anyone enlighten me on this?

There was a message on the main screen of BF2 advertising PR, it featured an A10 flying over Basra. People have blamed it for the recent influx of retards.
I think...

"Vanilla Newbs" will always be trying out PR and it is important that they do so to expand PR's community. At one point or anouther you where all "Vanilla Newbs" too by simply playing vBF2, but the fact is many of you after playing PR have taken on the ways of PR as you preferred them to vBF2 or w/e.
So to put it simply, if we never advertised about PR, you would most likley not be playing PR today, there would either be very few or even no players playing PR and PR would not be in the same development state it is in since many of our devs come from the PR player base, which before that they where vBF2 players, including myself.
Players are still joining the PR community, this was just one topic I read the other day about a new player and most of our new players do not post on the forums keep in mind:
https://www.realitymod.com/forum/f112-p ... noobs.html
But ye, there are many "nillia noobs" or w/e you want to call them that have no interest in changing the way they play and guess what, after giving PR a go for a few hrs and deciding they dont like it, they go back to playing vBF2.
So what you guys should be doing is not dismissing new PR players who have heard about PR and giving it a try but instead encouraging them to play the way PR is meant to be played! Dont kick new players out of your squad, even if they dont have a mic providing they are willing to respond to your orders etc its fine, they will most likely get a mic in time after they have experienced how good PR is but if they come across some player who just kicks them out as they are new, what do you think they are going to think of PR and its player base? We are all meant to be top notch players here, please act like it.
Cheers.

The worst thing was I sent them a huge pack of pics from v0.85 in the email I sent them and they didn't use them or realize I had sent them it

To be totally honest with you guys, I played PR before I touched vanilla. Someone told me to download it and I did thinking it was a patch. Best mistake ever!

In terms of players, yes. In terms of gameplay and features, no. Sure, I have awesome memories from 0.5, but I absolutely don't want to go back to it. It would be like going back to the age of 10 when you're 20.

And people that are complaining about that should be smacked right in the face, the one time they show PR some support people complain...

Well, I think its great to have new players come and play, But I don't enjoy new players who come on game servers, not training without reading the manual and done some hours in training..

It works like that, a new version comes out, or otherwise attention is drawn to the mod. People join and give it a chance, some leave cus they dont like PR, some stay because they like the gameplay.

Hey guys I agree with [R-DEV]Rhino's post, but what I meant by vanilla newbs are people who teamkill you for a Huey on Muttrah.. I had this one guy who... never mind.
But all of the time I can never tell someone who is a vanilla newb unless they do something like dont press the fire key with the medbag.. even thats not too bad anyway.
And the "We Were Newbs" thread is pretty funny.

The influx of Nilla noobs is good for us even if we lost a couple good games.
Those who don't like the game, "WTF THIS MOD SUX. STUPID WARM UP TIME", head back to vBF2.
Those like Rhino said, have no mic, read the manual, and want to learn, pick up the skills that we have now and become a good part of the community.

The EA message was a while ago. Now the problem is PR "vets" being rude and unhelpful to the new guys.

Is it bad to say that I found Project Reality before I found BF2?
Like I said.. i'm that kinda guy who looks up random stuff on the internet...
and I wasn't told by a friend, told to play or anything...
I was just looking up mods for BF2 and PR was the first thing i EVER played on BF2... (seriously... I played the Demo for BF2... but for maybe... like... 30 minutes. There was more teamwork then when i tried it...)
> > So i was never a "Vanilla Newb". o.O XD I did play for an hour after i started playing PR and was like "This sucks..."
._. I actually feel like i have no life now...
> > There needs to be a compromise.
Newbs need to respect their veterans.
o.o veterans need to be more... helpfulish... > > We should have a "Sponser a newb" day XD haha.

Agreed. Back in the days I didn't know how to pick up the kit I just had requested (never looked down for the actual kit) and kept asking where it go since the QM allocated it to me + what's the lemon thing... etc.
Maybe nowadays people ***** about that if someone says something like above and assume he's just another "BF2 newb"
Advertising this fine mod is important, like said above, PR might never be in this position without it. It brings unwanted material yes, but the good people will continue playing and our community grows day by day.
And I bought this game only for PR so advertising worked for me (thanks for the guy who made the PR Diaries back in the days, they turned me on

)
