Alternative kits

Most don't know this yet or don't use it, but while requesting the Officer kit on the T rose if you right-click on it, it'll spawn the ironsight one instead of scoped one.

It's nice, but I was wondering if it was possible to implement this for several other kits, like support or L-AT.
I for one would welcome the ability to request an ironsight SAW for some occasions instead of the scoped or LAT that uses the ironsight rifle instead of the scoped.

Well, I Agree with that suggestion, apart from the SAW tbh. SAW in undeployed-mode is like WTFBBQ on atleast 50m to me, and for everything above my scope does the job, so I dont think that its needed.

Ok, I think there is still a model with SAW without scope so it wouldnt do any work on the kit though, so put it in.

Only thing is the Grenadier which would require a new Model.

Why would you need five different suppressors?

Because each one of them makes a different 'pew pew' sound.

Alot of the gear in that picture belongs to the photographer -- I assure you Mark Fingar has more than 5 rifles. ;)

Sounds like a great feature, hopefully your suggestion will be taken under consideration.

Too bad we have only left and right click though...

You know, this customizable system would be quite easy, actually.....

I just downloaded BF2 Sandbox mod 1.0, and they have an ingenious method of kit selection. I recommend everyone to check it out :)

Probably not as easy as you might think, would require decent amount of hours and work, but that's just in getting the menus/interfaces set up and looking pretty :P

IMO, however, the flexibility with it and professionalism brought by those beautiful roses would increase PR's immersion, customizability and enjoyment by a large degree.

But customization is a great thing... hell even if it's just little things like adding the ability to have a customized icon on our specific weapons.... ._. cause to be honest... i hate feeling like everyone else.... ;) i'd at least put a smiley face.... XD

Very, very +1 to the OP. I didn't know that. Big thanks!

Well I dont know if "alternative kits" is even necessary if the amount of requestable kits is umlimited. That is something I do not know. But if it is unlimited, then you can just make however many different kits you want.

What do you mean? No one's suggested making new kits [with different purposes], justcreating small variations of each kit (scope customizability at the very least, perhaps a choice in other tools such as frags, smokes, or w/e), which technically would be creating new kits, but then arranging them intuitively in the menu.

Hopefully this would get a new menu interface à la Sandbox v1.0, but whoknows?

Nope. Each faction originally had a Grenadier weapon without a scope. Those placeholders can be used again until they're replaced.

Really, the limited and rifleman kits should use irons by default. Their scoped variants should be right-click accessible and limited. Because there are too many scopes in PR, the marksman and sniper are unnecessary.

It would be sweet, but the reality of it is that you can't just pick and choose what gun you get, scopes, what have you. They give you your weapon, and thats what you use.

Mercenaries choose what they use, not armies ;P

Except the optics on your weapon are your choice. And most soldiers do choose to equip their own optics.

Ok, what are you saying here. I said they would require a new model. This is actually true and you even confirmed it by saying "Untill theyre replaced". In the same sentence you said aswell that what I said is wrong.

Whatever, can you show me the Ironsighted Chinese grenadier pls? Ive never seen that berfore. Apart from that you are really suggesting that we should using a vBF² AK101 with nadelauncher for MEC? Or the ultra-ugly vBF² M16A*whatever* with M203 for US? When we have such lovly models as we have now you wanna ruin it by using THAT things?

Go for it

AFAIK, it wouldn't be so hard to put aimpoint or ironsights on the current models ;)

If they're too lazy to do even that, though, they do have placeholders.

When you say this requires new models, you suggest that it cannot happen without new models. It can happen. I could do it with Notepad in 15 minutes.

The only thing I can't do to make this suggestion happen is code the command rose. Dbzao could make this suggestion happen in his sleep.

Does any of them go 'plink' 'plink' or 'tsstch' 'tsstch'?
