hello all

i just installed btf 2 after patch 1.4 i downloaded pr 0.86

installed all fine ... i can play bf2 fine .. with no proublems but when i try to open pr.exe i get "pr.exe has stopped working" and if i will try to start pr like 085 from bf2.exe i get into the game but it says you need to run the game from pr.exe .

hm... any help ?

so i just uninstalled windows 7 and installed a windows xp sp3 from scratch,
again installed a framework 3.5 sp1+ bf2 + core + levels

same shit here. btf2 loading fine , and pr.exe dont even try to load.....

what can it be ?

and a question to devs / admins : can you make a patch thats allows to enter the game in old way ? or just make plz a stable pr.exe ... i just gived up alredy :/

pr.exe is a common problem mate, seems you may not have you .NET Framework up to date.

You need to download and install .NET Framework 3.5 service pack 1 then your game should run from the pr.exe.

yep i trued to run it with frameword 4.0 beta for windows 7 no success so i uninstalled and installed 3.5 for windows 7 same , no success :/

Ouch ... you installed the beta 4.0 framework

Its a well known problem I am afraid. Do not EVER install beta Microsoft software. For that matter don't ever install microsoft software thats just been released ... because its still a beta too. Wait at least 6 months.

Hitting uninstall does not mean it uninstalls, it will leave stuff on your system that will conflict. I hate to say it , but you installed a beta framework on a beta operating system and you wonder why you have problems ?

What do you have in this equivalent directory on Win7 "C:\WINDOWS\Microsoft.NET\Framework" ?

Umm .. deleting the folder could fuck your system ... if it was outside your windows system directory, I would just say yeah delete the folder and erase the entries from your registry. But things that install in the Windows system folder are a bit more complicated I am afraid ... they 'tie' themselves into the system in strange ways sometimes. Deleting the folder could leave your system unstable.

There are various tools for getting rid of the previous .NET installations if they don't uninstall properly, but I dont think there is anything available for the .NET 4 beta yet. The best advice I can give is to follow that link I put below and follow the procedure on there and see if it works. If not ... ask on MSDN for some help, because you are going to need the caliber of assistance that they can offer ... its out of my league I am afraid.

Be polite with them, do everything they ask of you, and if you don't understand something ask them to explain it to you so you do. If you do that they will bend over backwards to help you. But dont follow their advice and they will just leave you to it.

For the record ... when it comes to beta software of things like operating systems and runtime engines etc ... you should only ever install them on a testing machine that is not actually important for anything else, as having to delete everything , reformat and reinstall everything right from the beginning is a likely scenario that might happen more than once during the beta phase.

I have windows 7 and had the same problem mine fixed its self on its own i just kept loading it and it worked and not had a problem since.
U could also dnt no if u have done it like this but i have adual boot with xp on the other if u have this u could go into ur other boot as u should be able to access it form windows 7 it should come up as a aeperate ahrd drive and copy the .exe form there
