L85 Upgrade?

I've been to a recent army display and noticed that most (mabye all) l85s have rail attachments and a handy forgrip with intergrated bipod (deployable l85 like LMG?). all im saying is that the british forces need a new l85. i dont know if the acog has replaced the susat yet but maybe we could replace the l85 ironsight (as it is not used on combat operations anymore) with a l85 acog. all will have foregrips and railcarrages but with the choice to use a susat or acog. what do you think guys?

im curious, do the brits use any kind of aimpoint type optic for the l85s? like the m68? or is it all just SUSATs and I guess now acogs?

I do think that it is ok the way it is now. The iron sight version in PR is for CQB reasons.

why not create a way of using the backup irons ontop of the scopes? like a second rifle (like the LMG Deployed for example)

The new ACOG also has the aimpoint red dot fitted so selection along the lines of the LMG are workable. The ACOG is in short supply at the minute as the manufacturer can't get them out quick enough. There is also an ACOG being made available for HMG & GMG which is very similar to the IW sight less the reflex sight.

SUSATs and ACOGS. I dont know how they fight at close range (maybe using the backup sights on top of the scope like I suggested) but they use scopes. i suppose nearly every country uses scopes on their rifles in afghanistan now.
we could use that for the cqb sights on the acog then and the irons for the susat

This has been discussed before. afaik teh ACOG isn't fully phased in, but the MAs will know about that. The forgrip does seem to be in all images coming from afghanistan atm, but ingame I'm not sure if it would be deemed necessary for it to 'do' anything, since it might mess up gameplay if it did; i.e. for gameplay reasons it might be aesthetic only.
I'm not too fussed tbh, since the current SA80 is a good model, and a working weapon ingame. I'd welcome upgrades to teh model according to what the MAs would advise, But there are other tasks more needy imo, e.g. the merlin or the M249 SAW.

That would take a slot which is way to important to use it for a second sight. It's ok the way it is now.

remove binoculars, they arent needed if you have a scope anyway.

i wonder if you could use the scope for artillery direction as well. like the us army officers did in iraq.

Oh they are. Even with the scope you can't see the difference between enemy and friendly unit. Only the Binocs help there.
