Spawn locations and flag positioning.

Hi.

I've been thinking about those times when a horde of enemies are trying to cap a flag and you spawn on that flag to quickly try and defend it, then your randomly placed on the fixed spawn locations and you get instantly killed. We all know it and it's quite frustrating sometimes. Specially since you have to wait 30+ secs again. What I'm thinking is that it would be possible to choose the spawn location on that flag, or that you implement more "white dots" around the flag. So that teams can choose their own location on where to spawn for a easier defending position. Eliminating the whole randomly thrown into battle infront of a tank and 10 enemies.

Maybe 3, or more, "white dots" that all have a concentrated spawn are around that dot and not a wide are as the single "white dots" have now. Being spawned in the middle of the flag where all the enemies are isn't fun :)

Also the flag positionings in all maps, especially in the vbf2 maps are all the same, over and over again. Now that alot have played the new maps hundreds of times also, I tend to feel the repetiveness again like you felt with vbf2.
Maybe have like 3-4, or more, different flag positionings for all maps that are randomly chosen for each new map reload? For instance the first map I played in prmm was mashtuur city and it was a 16 player map. I have never played that map as 16 player so the flags were positioned in a different way then I was used to, and that made a HUGE different for me in gameplay. Such a small thing would make a big variation.

Well hopefully you understand what I'm getting at and that maybe you dev guys can think about it and implement it in the next update.

TIA

Theres no need for aditional spawn points, each spawn point can have a number of spawn locations around that point, you can specify how many and where they are. What needs fixed is the position of these locations especialy in Jungle Fever where the spawn locations are right in the middle of the flag.

Kyongan'Ni defies convention by placing the spawn points (gasp) outside the capture radius and (gasp) in cover.

Kyogan ni is great fun. The first time I played it, I was on the Chinese team and trying to cap the airdrop. We killed all the americans in the area and were sitting on the flag, waiting for them to spawn back. We wait. Nothing. All of a sudden I hear "frag out!" I look up the hill, and about 25m away in teh woods is a full squad of americans with their rifles trained on our position. We got massecred. The next time we tried to cap that flag, we hid behind HMMWVs  This map is great. Thank you, Mr. Nikovk.

Yeah, I've had similar experiences. Gotta love that map. I suggest NikovK does a rerun of all other BF2 maps to relocate the spawn points. :)

that bit about the code making u spawn away from enemies is a good thought!

but what about the flagposition variances?

There needs to be more spawnpoints on CP Abadan at watter front and checkpoint. They get spawn blocked far too much.

Yeah, thats what makes Kyongan'Ni an awesome map!

Now i'm going to repeat myself and insist on an idea i already posted on a similar thread: spawning at the squad leader sucks. Besides beeing unrealistic to the extreme, it is lame. And it ruins gameplay couse it's unfair. You can have your hole squad anihilated by pure incompetence and than have it back integrally in a matter of seconds. It's unfair with the other team who was superior and better organized into battle. Soldiers killed in action should come back from the main base as realistic reinforcements, and soldiers in a weakened squad should have to wait for those reinforcements, or retreat to regroup. Also, reinforcements could be blocked by a competent team of opposed Special Forces working stealthy behind enemy lines. Think about what that could add to the gameplay. Real life tactics and strategy could be used.

I know u devs have talented and competent mappers wich can create true masterpieces to the virtual battlefields.

gah doesnt anyone think that having different flagpositioning for each map would make it so much more fun to play?

I mean playing a map over and over the exact same way can get a bit boring. you can do it in your sleep now. and everyone knows where ppl hide or how ppl try to take each flag. as it is now it's deja vu everytime you play a map. charge and attack and defend are always the same.

if every map had several different setups as to where the flags are the fun of playing a map would not get so old so fast. dont you agree?

Yes, i totally agree with you teadaze. I was playing yesterday in an US server and i noticed that players almost always knew where to expect me to come up for the flag, no matter how i changed my route, there was always an enemy camping prone at the exact right spot to shoot me. And there was just 2 enemies at the other team!! Every time i spotted one he was already looking at me. Here at brazil where the mod is new (the server came up only a few days ago) it almost never happens (yet). In the near future we will be able to write a script that will play the online matches for us, just like in QUAKE.

I still would like to hear what the devs think about this. Dont they read and comment on the suggestion threads? ;)
