Hey all so right now my computer is around 3 years old, current specs are Intel Pentium D 2.80 GHz, Nvidia 6200SE Turbocache, ect ect... basically i have to run a low res on my big monitor and around low-medium graphics to sustain decent FPS.

So my budge is around 1-1.2k CDN, USA would be a bit more like 1.3-1.4k around there. The specs/parts im thinking are.

Intel i7 920 (~300 CDN)

Nvidia GTX 280 (~300 CDN)

Don't know the brand of memory but 6GB (3x2 2GB) DDR3 (~100 CDN)

Corsair 750W Powersupply (~ 100 CDN)

No Clue on a motherboard suggestions would help. (~100-200 CDN)

Seagate Barracuda 1TB 7200 1TB 7200 RPM 32MB Cache SATA 3.0Gb/s 3.5" (~100 CDN)

Case will be COOLER MASTER HAF 932 (~150 CDN)

That equals to around 1.1-1.2k CDN so, any suggestions would be nice trying to build a nice solid system that would last me a long time which is why i went with a i7 rather then a AMD 955 Black Edition CPU for example. So yea advice would help just wanted to see what all the others think.

Is the case ATX? if so here is a decent motherboard idk if its compatible with the i7 though i think it is. Good luck though my pc is about 400 years old its a 2.66 single core with DDR1 ram and only PCI slots... lol

No thats not you have to get a mb with the intel 1366 socket.. The Asus P6T deluxe sounds like a winner.

Most builders would say to start with the mobo first and I am no different. I use the Asus P6T and I have had no issues with it. You can check the rest of my system specs on my forum profile. Everything else you picked looks good. That system should last you another 3 years.

I personally wouldnt get the I7. I dunno what prices are like in the USA but i recently bought a computer and to me it just didnt seem like good value for money. I use the Asus P5Q for a motherboard and im really impressed by it. Not sure about compatibility with ur machine but when i had problems with my windows it was really easy to configure and it got going in the end. Unfortuantely the ppl i bought it off didnt give me working RAM

i7 in the us is about 236 on TD if I'm not mistaking and the extreme edition is like 999.99 on TD but I think you could get it a little bit cheaper on NG. I'm not sure correct me if I'm wrong though.

But make sure your case is ATX because I think that most of the motherboards are mostly ATX

Yes the case is ATX for you that are wondering, thanks for the advice. Also the i7 920 was 319.99 around there on newegg.ca on newegg.com its like 280 or something.

Any other advice would be wonderful.

EDIT: Also Psycho that board you linked was my 1st choice of motherboard seems decent.

Check Ncix's specials (regular prices there are to high or price match it with newegg.ca)

Keep in mind that i5 (a 'budget i7") is coming out this year with the main difference
(from i7) being:

There are a few guys running i7 rigs around here - maybe they could share their
experiences in more detail.

I don't get the bold part,my "old" 939 board (DFI NF4 expert SLI) from 2005 is nowhere near the "retirement".
