tracer speed

Is it just me or do the tracers seem to move a little slower than regular rounds. Ex... when zoomed in on muttrah i was shooting at the hotel and noticed the tracers were a little slower, not a big deal but if there was someone on there and was shooting at that far away it just might give them enough time to duck for cover if they seen it coming.

you are correct pretty much, the tracer is slightly heavier ingame. I'm unsure if CA overcame that
but the difference in when they hit you is probably miliseconds.

I have noticed this, but I haven't had a problem with it yet

It becomes a problem when trying to get ballistics and tracers every so many rounds, because it drops far faster than most bullets
In game, of course, but that's perhaps the only noticable reason behind their exclusion in Pr, however having tracers on every or no bullet solves the problem.

Sniper rifles and DMR's don't fire tracers (except for the MEC's one which I believe will be corrected in the next version) so every round fired by them should have consistent drop.

Wikipedia is your friend.
Currently, the soldiers' magazines consist of both normal and tracer rounds. No need to 'acticate' them.

OriginalWarrior wrote:Tracers DO move slower then actual bullets!! IRL a tracer is actually a real bullet coated with phosphorus that burns off of the bullet. So in reality the tracer shows the path of the bullet, but the bullet has already landed on the target.
No, it doesn't travel any slower. The phosphorus coating burns on the actual bullet during flight. The streak of light you see is led by the bullet. The reason it's a streak is the human eye has a few methods of showing a continuous/smooth image.

This has been noticed and there is no real "fix" for it. In the game, tracers travel 75% of the speed of regular bullets, this is hardcoded. The only options to obtain accurate ballistics would be to either make guns shoot all tracers or none of them. There was a gigantic thread a while back on the subject, if you want to debate the all-or-nothing/one-in-three dealio, go search for the thread.

It's locked now, but it's a good read to understand it.
