ok, long story short. i formatted my hd on accident, and recovered my bf2 files and mods. i have them on my new os, but get frozen when i try to load a map. i know i should redownload bf2 complete and pr, but im on a prepaid wireless broadband. it would take forever to redownload. i got my bf2 files from the recovery program i used. and i also got the bf2 complete setup from the cache from eadm. i then installed and then just copied over my new install with the recovered files, that had the latest patches, so i wouldnt have to redownload. but it asked me for a cd key, which i dont have and is part of eadm. so then i reinstalled eadm. and then tried but still freezing. and also i didnt mention, just bf2 freezing....pr says my configuration is incorrect when i try and run pr.exe. i think maybe i can just uninstall bf2 and then install using the cache from eadm, now that i have it installed, and then maybe it will work. or just wait forever to dl. any help or advice on this please?

ok got bf2 to play witout freezing just cant start pr. it states
"C:\program Files\EA Games\Battlefield2\mods\pr\pr.exe
this application failed to start because the application configuration is incorrect. reinstalling the application may fix this problem."
but crappy connection will take forever to download.
im thinking there is no way around this, but to move where i can get a better IP. but dont want to have to move to do that...lol...i used to play cf2142, and all someone would have to do is copy there mod and move back to same place after reinstall of vanilla. and bam. worked just fine.

I think you will find your answer the the red stickys. If you need more help post back.
PS Start with the one entitled 'Read This If You Have Pr.exe problems'
The red stickys have 80% of the answers to your most common questions,
and even tho I can lead you to the well of knowledge , I can't force you to drink.

yea i finally figured it out! i had vista on my recovered battlefield and have xp now and it was still looking in C:\users....which xp uses c:\documents and Settings.....so i just had to create some folders as if it were to look in vista. kind of hard to figure out on own, but i made it. and look forward to playing again

ok got it to start finally but now i ctd because i think some of my file are missing or something. so i decided to wait forever an redl the core files, and to add to all my f@#$ups, the installer is corrupt. i have a 5gb cap, and im almost to the max on it, so i guess ill have to wait till the end of next moth to start playing again. gl everyone at this great game!

Use a 'torrent' client to make sure the download is good. It's all ways a good idea to backup large downloads to DVD if you can. Followed by backing up the installed game folders once you have them set up and working the way you want.
Good luck
