i did this a few years ago when BF2 was released. it still worked for me last i checked in the .85 and .86 beta testing, that is the last time i spent any amount of time in a bird.
you just have to keep the program up to date (or use an older version, i forgot) or else you get kicked for "Disallowed Program/Driver" because people abuse it for gray area activities and cheating....
if it is OK to talk about on these forums i will provide the info.

What specifically are you trying to do with the PoV controls. Are you trying to slew the camera or move to one of PRs predefined view areas?

lets say you want to look right. you press the POV to the 90* position (aka right, think of compas headings, but 000/360 is up, and 180 is down), and it holds your mouse look key and scoots the mouse over 50 spaces. so when i would hold the POV hat for a split second i would look ~30* right, a bit longer, 45* ect.., and i could set it up to center on release, or i had a second button to reset the view to center. the only negative side to this is in BF2 when you use the mouse look it takes over and freezes all other inputs, and the plane/chopper HUD disappears
i tried doing this with head-tracking (free-track.net and trackIR) and just didn't feel right compared to a games that nativity support in game head movement.
EDIT: NO GO, but it still works....
i am using the POV HAT when you see it skipping around and not turning smoothly (the video is recorded at 100FPS). and i need to adjust the intensity (aka sensitivity) for it to behave like I had it on my old system. those that have played with me while i used the script might remember seeing my guy spinning around when getting bored waiting for shit to get organized at the base.

didn't realize you said you already have the mouse moving. is there a way to bind a key press with the movement? you could use the joystick drivers to bind your "mouse Look" function to a button ont he joystick. then use the hat switch to look around. too bad i can't do this on my joystick... Pb allows drivers that you can bind anything to, even turbo-buttons, but those of us with an older joystick can't because biind/script software is blacklisted... fing bull shit.
