3d mouse in PR?

I have been playing PR for about 3 months now and I am a great pilot. I use mouse & board for heli and Joystick for jet. Anyways, as a CAD designer, one pc peripheral that I get to use is a 3d mouse. I was wondering if it could be used to pilot a Heli. It has 6 degrees of freedom and buttons on the mouse. (It is basically a floating sphere that can go in any direction) I have a great control configuration in mind but I want to know if it is possible before I bring it home from work for the weekend lol.

Do you fly high? Some people get so high that they can kiss the sky, before they
die - I don't know why.
I do however know that every mouse out there should work -whether or not
all the buttons/functions will be available is a different story.
Need to be careful with taking things home from work - some companies
don't like that.

lol nice quote. I bought the mouse from someone at work and it was their personel one.

As for the quote, I have been flying choppahs and gunships for years before I discovered PR. So it didnt take long for me to get whats going on. If anything I kiss the ground with the skids and wheels of the chopper not the sky lol.

What's the model name/brand for the mouse? - wanted to look it up.
Don't know if anyone used/using one haven't seen/heard anything.
I use joystick for both (jet/helo) but more of tank/apc whore myself.

looks interesting,now I know why people don't use it around here:almost 300$
 :p

Amazon.com: 3D connexion SpaceExplorer 3D Navigation Device with USB Interface ( 3DX-700026 ): Electronics

It would be sweet if you can "test' it out with PR and let us know how it
works (or not) out.

Well, to be honest i don't have that mouse yet ( i am a poor college student). Instead, i have a 3d mouse that I got at work. Only problem is, not only is not supported by current drivers (it is legacy) but I have no idea of its compatiblity with windows vista. I will try again to get it working (it is a serial hookup) but it is going to take sometime

EDIT (30 mins l8r...)

Ok, so I figured out everything there is to know about this situmation. If I want to get a 3d mouse working on PR, I would have to get a new 3d mouse, which i plan to. It will work. There is a program and drvier work around to make the 6 axis controller work as a joystick. (turning x,y,z axis to joy axis) It is all in the drivers and sadly I cannot say that it is super simple to do. BUT, this will work with the $60 3d mouse (theoretically since it does come with BF2 binds for the controller)

So, it is possible. I am sure it will work. All I need now is the money for the one i want ($300) but for anyone who is willing to spend $60 on a cheaper one just ask, i think it would be a worthwhile venture. (piloting a jet with only one hand does sound cool to me)
