I have a strange issue I have been experiencing, when ever I get D/c or PB kicked for whatever reason it seems to break my mic, after I rejoin the server any server when I try to talk its a constant clicking noise and a loud static when I talk, even if I mute my mic the ticking sound still happens.

I restarted my computer and it still is happening, I unplugged my mic and turned my computer off for a few hours came back and tried my mic and it worked fine. a few days later I got a connection problem and d/ced when i rejoined my mic was broken again in the same fashion, does anyone know what the heck could be causing this the only new hardware on my PC is a new CPU I haven't altered any settings.

What kind of headset (brand, USB connection or plugs) and which sound card do you use?

Is it only in ingame VOIP that occurs or in Ventrilo/Mumble/TS? Do you hear that sound when you not are gaming, when listening to music etc?

Install the latest sound card drivers I have had a few friends that have had problems with when they join a new map there voip dosent work they got the latest drivers of rhtere sound card and no problems since hope this helps.

I have the latest sound card drivers, when I test the microphone in the sound settings I can hear the clicking, but it doesn't constantly happen only when I am testing my mic can I hear it, when I am in game other people describe it like I hear it. I am pretty sure it messes the mic up for the rest of my games as well as I trying using it in AA3 with the same results,

Otherwise I can't hear anything. I don't use vent or TS.

my mic is a Plantronics cheapo 5 dollar one but it has been working for me for about 5+ years without any problems. It still works only after I turn off my computer completely and unplug it, restarting the PC didn't work, and changing any sound settings on my pc didn't help. I use Realtek HD onboard audio.

Is your mike plugged into the front or back of your PC? If it's the front change it to the back. The same thing happens to me every so often and restarting the game fixes it for me.

It is plugged in the back threw the mic jack I don't use USB.

It isn't the mic, I unplugged the mic completely and the clicking sound still happens. What could this be? I even turned off the computer completely and it still is happening so idk how I fixed it the first time. I muted All input and the clicking still happend, when I muted only the mic input it stopped the clicking so I am stumped.

Nick, do you use the inbuilt sound card on the MOBO or a PCI-one? If you do, reinstall the MOBO's drivers.
If you have PCI-card, make sure the your MOBO's sound card is disabled in SETUP.

Isn't there front connection to on your PC's case? (It oughta be).
You know, when building a PC you sit with all those tiny wires in different colours to sound, USB, on/off and other stuff. I was thinking if one of those are badly connected, or if it is any "ground issue" in the case. Maybe a fan disturbing?

Also see to that the volumes on both Microphone, Input and Output is not on maximum in "Sound". Try it peu-en-peu.

Like i said download the sound drivers again when all aplications have been installed I have had a similar problem I got the latest sound drivers installed them used vent and the mic was really laggy so I downloaded the same drivers uninstalled them reinstalled and no problems.
Also can you explain the problem more I am not quiet sure wat it is are you saying when you try and talk theres just a clicking sound?

I flashed my bios and it seemed to fix the problem I haven't been kicked/disconnected yet so I will have to wait to see if that totally fixed it.
