NVG Goggles (Not another moaning thread)

In PRMM there is no negative to wearing NVGs....this is not realistic!

If you've been on a server with me at night you've probably heard me asking "can you see me any better with these on..." anyway based upon such sophisticated testing methods I have concluded that the NVGs do not cause any illumination of the face. This means that a sniper with an SPR can not be seen/heard/killed! Unfair but more than that it is unrealistic.

So I'd suggest that the NVGs illuminate the face somewhat, or at least give out 2 white dots over the eyepieces so that the snipers are not so damn invisible.

I agree 100% with this. You have to realize that in simple terms it is like looking at two tiny tv's. Each one is about 1/2 to 1 inch away from your face. They DO create light which when viewed from at a distance sticks out like a sore thumb.

The NVG do work very well in certain areas of certain maps but for the most part people glow enough to be seen without the goggles.

A good sniper sets himself up in a dark area (thats how I rack up so many kills as sniper) and I know I am safe as the NVG gives off no lightsource, so people have no idea where I am shooting from (except muzzle flash - which can be combatted by engaging only at certain times etc). This is not realistic and does make a sniper fairly invulnerable.

it works the other way round too. I remember using Milan at night and the buzzing of the system masked the frontal approach from 45 degrees from my left of my sergeant who scared the living **** out of me when he suddenly talked into my ear! you really didn't need to spend all your time looking through an imaging scope at night or you lost awareness.

we had first generation night scopes to mount onto our rifles, but they were pretty useless with their tunnel vision and barrel distortion.

if a scope is just giving out green light though, is it really going to show too much light on the users face? I don't know what the current generation ones are like.

ps. if you can stop NV goggles being used on day maps, how come you can't stop people not using goggles on night maps? there must be a single variable there that can be tweaked in the future?

The way they amplify light causes the projection of light onto the users face, even in 3Gs

i agree i think you should be able to see a glow on the face of the guy usuing the NVG's another thing i seem to remember hearing a lot of people saying that wearing NVG's gives you amazing tunnel vision so you could only see directly infront of you and people can walk up from 90 degrees right and you wouldnt be able to see them...is that still the case???
