[Code] Logistic truck, Supplycrate hold

hello there,

let me first expalin this a bit:
the idea was that the trucks (in this case the logistictrucks) hold the supplycrates on their back and not "inside" the truck. this could also affect gameplay because you would see if and how many crates a logistictruck holds (own and enemy trucks).

and now some pics to let you see how it could look like:
Image
 both crates on the back
Image
:arrow :o ne crate dropped, one still on the back
Image
 both crates dropped, back is empty

i hope you like it and it can be used by PR (even if i dont think it would work well with supplytrucks because their back is mostly full of people :D )

yep, we always wanted to do that, but we never got to doing it.

I think there are issues with reload and the dummy projectiles in dedicated, but even if it stays on the back would look cool. :)

well i wouldnt think so, because its the same way how the AA missles work on the helis for example and i think they work without problems

Man if that works, that would be pretty sick. I always thought the emptiness of the back of the logistic truck disturbing.

We never put anything on the back because we planned to do this exact suggestion.

Nice work :)

Was going to code this myself but when I saw I would have to totally rework the code to allow this to happen I thought f*ck it and went onto something more important :p

Also a small tip if you rotate one of the two crates by 180degs will most likley look a little better, at the moment since they are at the same rotation they look like clones (which they are but you can make it look less of a clone by rotating it ;) )

Or, better: put both the crates in the same way, but offset them from the center slightly and/or rotate the crate within 15 degrees of their current state. It makes it look like they were deliberately put in the truck that way (usually, people think that kind of way when they load them up) but look like it was more of a job done by a human rather than computer.

As for the Transport trucks, you could put the crate nearest the front or back of the bed (depending on the truck or whatever), and squeeze the passengers either closer to the back or rotate the crate 45 degrees to kind of give them 'leg room'.

Nicely done, though. Hope to see it in game.

iirc I believe the plan is to remove the crate from the transport version.

Awesome, good work Leusch.
Btw will the indicator be removed? Now that you can simply press c and look back to check.

wel rotating 1 of the crates 180 wouldnt work because i am using a "ObjectTemplate.fire.projectileStartPosition" and thats and important line i cant delete, so if you rotate one "too much" than they wouldnt dropped at the back of the truck, maybe even glitch so how in the vehicale etc

so i think the best is to rotate them maybe only 5-10° and move them a bit so there are not in a line.

and if the devs wants to use it, PM me and i can send you a example of the code and could explan it a bit mroe (codingwise)

anyway thanks for your nice comments

why dont you put a barrel in and then tell both projectiles to fire out of that barrel, which is just off the back of the truck? then it dose not matter w/e way the dummies are rotated or positioned.

i dont think that works, because the barrels are also the dummy objects, like the AA missles in the helis.

so adding another barrel wont work, and just adding the dummy objects and 1 barrel could work, but then i think the weapon cant see whats just a child object sticked on the weapon and whats a dummy object that it should use

EDIT: okay, i have try it in the editor and it doesnt work that way. but i think there is 1 possible ways to work a round that:

1. make a "new" mesh with a different pivot point

you should be able to make a dummy barrel with no mesh that is named differently to the dummy weapons then you set the barrel to that. What you most likley have setup is using the dummy weapons as barrels which I'm pretty sure you dont need to do.
