So after installing into C:\Program Files\EA GAMES\Battlefield 2\mods I cannot start the game, it just says PR.exe has stopped working

Have you tried running PR in Compatibility mode with XP and running as administrator?

I think you install PR to just the battlefield folder not mods folder, unless that's the path is automatically gave you?

I've tried installing it into multiple places with no luck.

You need to install it to the path it automatically gives you not to a custom path.

Well it needs to be installed there, make sure it is and make sure you are using the .86 shortcut and not your old shortcut, it should ask you if you want to place a shortcut after you install.

I read that, it just says unable to locate Target.

Run it in windowed mode with error reporting on and find out what the error is.

I'm going to re download it and see if that helps.

No don't do that yet, basically did you install Bf2.exe from new ? Did you patch it to the 1.41 patch ? If so did you run BF2 first before installing PR ?

I've had BF2 installed for 3 years, its patched, the older version of PR worked ok.

Then provide the error message.

Let me try to get it, the game does not start though I click PR.exe, and as soon as I click it I get Not responding.

Any crash due to pr.exe will produce an error message through the exception handling. If you are not even getting the program launching , and no error message at all , it suggests that you have a problem with the CLR engine in your .NET installation.

Reasons for this can be things like at one time installing a beta version of .NET on your system that left unremoved traces or not having the correct version installed. However if you are on XP, you should find that as long as you have at least .NET 2.0 SP1 installed on your system it will work.

Well, i used the patch and I don't get the PR.exe has stopped working anymore but the game still will not start.
I'm running Windows Vista SP1

I suggest you try uninstalling everything , including .NET and starting from the beginning and reinstalling. Because you are on Vista SP1 that will be painless for you, as your .NET is already at the stage where it will take the 3.5 sp1.

Well, I uninstalled everything and reinstalled. It is the same thing, I run as Admin, then allow the program and it sits and does nothing.

How have you gone from getting an error message that the pr.exe has stopped working to getting nothing happening ? What have you done in that interim period ?

Whatever you have done, you need to get back to the stage where you reported this ...

Without getting to that stage (pr.exe reporting errors), there is very little I can do to help you.
