Hello Guys,
I have uninstalled Windows XP and Installed Windows 7 instead a few days ago...
a few minutes ago, I installed BF2 and PR, At first when I tried to connect to a server I was getting something about O/S Privilges, I figured out that I have to run the program as an adminstrator , I did and it worked...
Then the next error was the one in the title!
I did some google search, some people said you need to be logged in as adminstrator which I was, I tried to run the game as admin also but it didnt work...
I still didn't update PB because Evenbalance is down for me... when I try to access it, I get a problem saying: Problem Loading Page... so IDK

Anyone can tell me how to fix this??

PS: I have Windows 7 Release Candidate (RC) 32Bit Which is extremely similar to vista, for example if I wanna Download a driver I put Windows Vista 32 Bit if there wasn't windows 7 and it works....

Installation timeline

1. Install BF2

2. Install the latest Full BF2 Patch (Currently: 1.41)
3. Install the latest PR Build :TWO separate Project Reality 0.860 Client Installers .The two installers are listed as CORE and LEVELS.

Set compatibility mode to xp and run as admin in desktop shortcut on Vista PCs
Right click shortcut
choose 'properties' from bottom of list
Click on the Compatibility 'tab'(along the top of the window)
Check 'run as admin' box, select WINDOWS XP(service pack 2

Update Punk Buster:
Before you go online to join a server
you should:

1. Download pbsvc
2. Start pbsvc installer, you should see options for install, uninstall, test.
3. Run the Uninstaller, then delete the PB folder to remove any leftover files.
4. Restart your computer.
5. reinstall punk buster files with pbsvc( if your using Vista DO NOT set compatibility to XP, run as admin ok)
6. After pcsvc installs, click the "test" option to check the punk buster install you just did.
5. Make sure it comes back "all green"
6.Download pbsetup(pbsvc DOES NOT install pbsetup.
If your using Vista DO NOT set compatibility to XP, run as admin ok)
7.Create a pbsvc installer shortcut AND pbsetup program shortcut on your desktop.
8.Run pbsetup (from the shortcut on your desktop) add BF2 to the games list, then hit update."

(pbsvc installs the punk buster 'engines' or applications.
PBsetup installs the files/gas the 'engines run)


Firewall not set up (open) for BF2 and punk buster
UPDATE YOUR FIREWALL

Make sure your firewall has permission for:

BF2.EXE
PBSETUP.EXE
(search for your location)

PNKBSTRA.EXE
path:
C:\WINDOWS\SYSWOW64\PNKBSTRA.EXE
or (not 100% sure but for 32 bit O/S I think it's)C:\WINDOWS\SYSWOW32\PNKBSTRA.EXE
PnkBstrB.exe
path:
"C:\Users\"your user name here"\AppData\Roaming\PnkBstrB.exe"

I have already done everything you said and it helped...
But now I am getting a new problem....
Ihave tried to get it in to servers about 10 time and only onne time the problem was different...
The problem is that when it says verifying client it lasts for about 2 mins then I crash to desktop!
once I managed to play for about 10 mins, but at the first 5 minutes the game was too laggy...
then for no reason I crashed to desktop!

What kind of ping are you getting on the servers you play on?
You may need to drop some settings to sort out where your problem is even tho your specks are really good.
Check out tweak guides
Things you can try:
Defrag your hard drive.
Set virtual ram min and max the same (1.5 x real ram)
set the 'affinity' for PR to the 2nd core.(force the game to run on one cpu or core only)
Set textures in game to medium.
Use a small program to turn off unneeded background services
while gaming( I use AMD Fusion for Gaming)

I actually know a little about computers... so I already done somethings...
Defrag I done last night, I go to the defraging screed it says now 0% Fragmented...
I play on British server and I get 80-150MS on them.... the Virtual RAM is set to max, 2GB I think, and the textures are already set to medium....
I tried a tweak here its found in the stickies on thisforum... its about download the visual C++...
It fucked up the game more... I also doing that tweak started to get kicked by punk buster saying corrupted memory file...
What the tweak done was allowing PR to use virtual memory for the needed seconds....
So my game is totally fucked up ATM...
I dont want to reinstall.. I have been Reinstalled OSes this week more than 10 times.. 4 time XP 3 times vista and a few times window 7, my PC has been fucked up...
But I might consider reinstalling...
But I dont think it will fix it
and IDK how to run PR on a single core...
Did I post my Specs??

CPU: Intel Core 2 Duo E8400 3GHz
GPU: nVIDIA GeForce 9800GT Super+ 1GB of VRAM
RAM: 2GB
HDD: 320 Sata HDD

I used to crash to desktop on XP before but all I done was putting the textures on medium...
