Total Number of BF2 servers worldwide down to 800

Hello.

Just noticed this via ASE - The global number of BF2 servers is down from 2000 to 800. The total online playerbase (active players) has fallen from ~12000 to 2000 active players at the moment. It's Saturday - Noon time EST, evening in Europe - Prime time BF2 playing!

I also noticed that the majority of the "online" servers are the "EA US" and "EA Europe" Official servers, and they're running 1.22 ! =) So, looks like even EA has "backed out" their 1.3 patch on the official servers. In fact, I cannot find any active 1.3 server in the list!

Hence, Looks like everyone who upgraded their server to 1.3 has crashed.

What a day for BF2. =(

P.S. - I have not upgraded to 1.3, as all I play is PRMM now; hence if there's no 1.3 support yet for PRMM, I have no reason to "upgrade". I suggest everyone else do the same.

as you can see noone is even playing prmm. all those who installed 1.3 did it again. Stupidness is contageous in the community.

Oops My bad.

turns out ASE simply no longer supports BF2 1.3

Since Yahoo owns ASE now, and filter/code updates have been spotty at best, I am simply going to stop using ASE. For all those ASE users out there - Try QTRACKER.

Note: QTRACKER already has built-in support for PROJECT REALITY

Heh, I just maintain my own ASE filters. I've given up on any chance of ASE updating anything themselves.

Actually, EA/DICE changed the underlying query protocol on port 29900. Hence, it's not a "filter" thing anymore - ASE Can simply no longer query *ANY* BF2 server. Hence, "bye bye ASE"

Ah, fair enough. Haven't tried using ASE since the 1.3 patch anyway. I'll still use it for BF1942 though.

Qtracker is a good alternative to ASE!
The developer was very helpful when I asked him to add support for Project Reality some days ago.
Qtracker is under developement and good ideas or suggestions are welcome.
So give it a try and sign to the forum.
