Hi guys...
the downloads on the PR site are pretty slow, the clan link is wierd (only one MB?). Can someone point me to faster/non limited downloads please?

Thank you!

You're best trying the Torrent file. I know it takes a while, but after you've spent those couple hours downloading it you'll spend 10 times as long enjoying it, at least. Just hang in there!

Sorry, but I will not install a new program (bitorrent) to test a game. Especially as a good download of this mod shouldn't take more than an hour... if a good mirror is existing :( .

You're in luck! BF2-Maps mirrors the PRMM .3 client files. Here's a link:

I should mention a bittorrent program like utorrent is only around 400kb and doesnt need installing, however thats your choice.

It's not a question about DL size, time or anything else. It's a question about principles: I don't know if I'm gonna like this mod (though it sounds like a perfect match to me right now). It's definately a no-go that the mod makers don't provide a good mirror list but ask their players to change their behaviour, only to get the mod.

No offence, but things like this are causing a lot problems... I personally know only from tonight 3 players who tried the downloads and after seeing the inacceptable DL speeds they all (!) said: no, I will not even try it. It's simply not worth it.

I think the mod makers make a big mistake if they think they can force potentiel "clients" to first get new topols, learn how to use them (even if it takes only 2 minutes) etc. Exactly this behaviour is the reason why most mods stay small, even if they have a big potential.

However:
@Razen:
BIG THANKS, downloading now at least at 200k, which means I will be able to play it tonight (spreading the link now in our forum :) ).

You should really ask the mod makers to put your link on the top of the download list.

I have setup a private mirror on a fast connection.

prmm_0306_setup.exe

Hope this works out for you. I'm getting 500Kbytes/sec download on the file, and that server is 4000 Km away from me. =)

If a client isn't willing to put in a few hours of their time to get a game that they can evidently see from the website, forum and community is a game with a lot of effort put into, then maybe they're the ones with the problems. The mod makers aren't asking the players to change their behaviours, they distributed the mod to as many people as they could to get it hosted well. They spend a lot of time and effort making this mod the way it is without ANY donations, they're not exactly going to spend their money buying high speed servers so people can get the download faster. The fact is, the mod is available, you're just being ungrateful by wanting it faster. You should've seen the night version 0.3 was released, everyone had around a 10kb/s download rate, but everyone hung in their and now we're all enjoying it, as you may have noticed.

I think it's unfair how you think the mod makers are a making a mistake, how they're 'forcing' people to install BitTorrent. Incase you hadn't noticed, a mod maker is yet to reply to this post saying that. It is generally presumed people know about the torrent file sharing system, if they don't, download links are provided. Do you complain to all the other mods who don't inform their users on how to unzip files? I'm pretty sure 99% of mods use winzip on their files, that's not really unfair on potential clients, is it?

I'm not flaming you, I just think it's unfair how you judge this mod by the speeds of its mirrors so early on. What the devs have done is not unreasonable, it's not unfair, it's not a mistake. Play the mod and you'll see.

Exactly this is the problem most mod developers have: they think because they have made a cool code/game, they donÄt have to care about the players. That's all I tried to say. If you act like you described above, then this means you will get a very very strong community. But this community will not get big.

Mod makers should act more like sales men:
you have a great product (in my opinion) but you still have to sell it to the market. You have to make impressive screens, movies, a lot press release, go to TV shows etc. If you don't do anything, it's very unlikely you will get a big community, I am sure, you agree.

If you do some of this, you will get more, the more you do, the bigger the community gets. That's a fact I am sure you will agree.

And the most critical thing is to get people easily into the game. Once they experienced it, then they will decide if they will put time into it to learn it. But if people don't even have a chance to download it in a short time, you will loose a lot potenital players. I am not blaming you (the dev's), I just recognized tonight that this IS a risc and you would have 3 players less, if not someone here had provided us a fast download link (not me, I have the time, but 3 others would have not played it).

So... back to Topic:
Here you find 3 DL links that are fast, the first one is on my own server and it's unlimited: http://www.bombrat.com/forum/thread.php ... #post55824

Second:
We're now 6 new players... playing right now :D . And I know for sure that at least 4 of us are BIG fans of this "mod". It's awesome and we already LOVE it... Thanks guys, it's exactly what we waited for since BF2 came out. GREAT JOB!

Please note, this is only version 0.3. The experience is far from being complete. Version 1.0 is going to be the ultimate BF2 experience, so if you're happy with what you see so far you're going to love 1.0.
