machete is going to be as epic as taliban bayonet charges on korengal or brits on OGT

its a nice collection of knives and machete, but in most of west Africa the most common blade you see is called a "panga" i ts a rather large bladed weapon use for cutting anything you can think of.

i cant find any current pics but in Rwanda and Congo the locals have a nasty variant of the panga that looks like a question mark. called the umuhoro


p.s. i make friends not enemies, so if we need African voices for this at a future date that shouldn't be a problem. especially as tonnie now has a sound man in his back pocket!!

there are some really good references for this in a movie called "tears of the sun". it was actually very well researched even if it was a little lame and hands on hearts.

bottom one on the first post is closest to what I think of when someone says Machete

I vote for the bottom one as well. maybe a little more red color on it.

What are you guys saying? The third from the top is the best pick. I mean, just look at how badass that mofo looks! If you whip out that two-cent machete at the bottom and say "I'm going to cut you," I mean, you're just going to look like some poor angry African guy. If you pull out the knife third from the top and you say "I'm going to cut you," everybody will know that you mean serious business.

The second and fourth ones are the only ones you can call machetes.. I like the kukri model.

There will be a nice work to do on the animation too !!! Must be a violent movement ...

if person #1 has a Panga and person #2 has that little pistol-grip blade i think your talking about, i think dont think person#2 is walking away from this argument.

sure "if you pull out the knife third from the top and you say "I'm going to cut you," everybody will know that you mean serious business." but the guy with the panga says "I'm going to cut you," you call that poor angry African guy "SIR" all you can do from that point is hope he doesn't say you need short sleeves.

how about i do a couple of video's with a machete for reference. i'll have at least one of those in the shed somewhere.

Nah the most authentic one is the bottom one.
