Refex sight up grade. Poll

This is a desiccation. not exactly a suggestion.
With a 16/9 24inch monitor the effective range of a iron sight and dot points is up to 30-60m or even 70m is the point at which the accuracy of reflex sights start to dramatically decline. after 70m accuracy starts to become a real problem. and let me tell you a effective range of 60m is not enough.
seeming that most engagements in this game are up to about 150m, or 100m. most of the time the reflex weapons simply can't get out that far with a reasonable amount of accuracy.
and because of that the sight is on average very unpopular simply for it inflexibly compared to optics, which have a effective range of about 30 to about 190m or even beyond that benchmark.
Now what im saying is some thing has to be done to improve them.
What needs to happen is by any viable means the reflex sight effective range needs to be expanded to at least 100m or even 120m in game meters in a effort to make them more flexible,
now the Realism argument of things is bound to come forth. in game meters are smaller the RL so by that argument we can extend the range of the sights, to be in par with RL meters. and the simple fact that in real life you can shot accurately with dot points well beyond 100m
how ever im not making any suggestions on how this could be done. this tread is more concerned with the need of this being done.
Excluding the insurgent weapons of course.
Poll questions. YES i want reflex sight/iron sight effective range to be expanded to make them more versatile and more widely used. yet still be as effective in Close quarters
Poll questions. No I do not what reflex sights/iron sights effective range to be expanded to make them more versatile and more widely used.

=/ true and not so true....
I'm pretty sure a mouse with adjustable DPI would help, and also a higher resolution built right into it.... =/ we'll see with patch 1.5.... *laughs myself to sleep*

moving the sights closer to the screen to increase the visibility would be a huge step in the right direction in my opinion.
For ironsights you could make the sights a bit smaller and more open, ghost rings are called that because when you look through them with your eyes the part closest to your eye virtually dissapears.
The sights on the left are with a wider ring
(like the one we use in the game for the M16/M4) and the one on the right is for a narrower ring, like the ones seen on things like an M1 Garand or M14.

Playing medic on wide open maps is just plain boring because of the iron sights - you're like a priest in World of Warcraft. You get taken out by people at such range that you simply can't hit them.

Just fire in the general direction and after 3 shots lie down. Thats what I do

I agree that iron sights somewhat limit your accurate fire, but its not impossible. Just harder. As youd expect since you havent got a scope.
Keep in mind that a lot of things in PR are Scaled Down. So the effective range of an ironsight weapon should not be like its real life counterpart. Than there would be little to no reason to take a scope over it. AND IronSights will be rendered useless in Close Quarter Combat

stick close to your teammates with scoped rifles then.
even if you can't actually hit the enemy, you can fire accurately enough over 150 meters to keep him in suppressed mode so your squadmates can pick him off.
you can also cover the flanks that are closer to your squad alot easier and if the enemy comes close you have the upper hand.

Can you add a poll?. that the whole point of the tread.

Most of the time I play with Iron Sights/Red dot and simply spam away 2-3 mags on long range

Let the rest of the squad do the accurate firing.

Agreed that playing with Ironsights is probably the most boring thing ever, seriously when i see the enemy trying to kill them is a joke because all of them most likely have scoped rifles. Pretty much all you can do is just spam a mag into the general location to suppress them or go take a shower and wait for your squad to get hit.

Both does pictures are from the same gun, you can flip the rear sight to make it bigger or smaller.

The front sight of an M4 is 14MOA while an M16's is 10.7MOA -- the in-game representation is pretty accurate.
ETA: I've had no problem team-killing at 250m with the Aimpoint.

That being said, I think everyone would find the red dot to be more effective if it were moved forward on the rifles -- obscures less of the screen.
Extreme example.

I know, but we don't use the aperture sights in the game, only the big rings.
I'm just saying that the iron sights on the guns in the game are the same type as the left one, but when you look through them it looks more like the smaller one on the right.
Of course this is because your eyes can't focus the same way they would on three dimensional objects when they're two dimensional images on a screen.

I'm always glad to be allowed to take the medic kit because I like the ironsight more than the ACOG. I also shoot enemies far out with the iron sight too.
To fix the widescreen distortion just play in window mode with your favorite resolution.

I would rather take the right one as it hides less from the viewport.
I also don't like the way reddot overglows (around the smaller dot) making it extremely hard to identify targets above 50 meters or so.
But seems that it will be "fixed"

That's alot better, imo.
It obscures less of your view and looks nicer too
