Voip setup help requested

Hello everybody.

Ok, up until now, I have never used voip for playing online. I've been trying to setup my mic to use while playing PR and I'm having issues. It was recommended to use "teamspeak" but that didn't seem to work for me. Just last night, one of my squad mates told me that he set up his mic directly through Win XP and that was all it took. Sadly, he left before he could tell me the details.

I'd like to be able to chat while playing and keep the setup as simple as possible. Can anybody who is using a mic please offer any tips or suggestions as to what I need to do for this to work?

Thank you.

Plug it in. Wait until windows detects and installs the software for it. (USB) Go to your control panel and then the audio icon. Make sure the "input or voice" selection shows your mic's name.

in PR go to the audio settings and make sure VOIP is turned on. you may have to play with your output settings a little depending whether or not your squad mates can hear you. you may have to adjust it up or down.

Hi guys.

Thanks for your suggestions, but I'm still having problems. The headset I have is not USB but rather 2 jacks. I'm sitting here trying all configurations and nothing is happening. As a matter of fact, my "Realtek" audio wizard pops up but it doesn't have the proper hardware option for me to choose from! I'm going to have to just sit and see if I can figure it out.
I'm also trying the voip setup as suggested and still nothing! Oh well, I'll keep trying on that as well.

Thanks for your help though.

Cheers

Keep trying.

This may or may not help... it is fairly basic.

Hi again.

Ok, thanks to all 3 of you, I finally got it to work. Bits and pieces from each of you helped me get this thing working. The only issue now is it seems that I'm having trouble hearing the other players clearly and one suggested I maximize sound input with the sliders. I did that but it's still hard to hear every player clearly. Nevertheless, I'm happy that it's working finally.

Thanks again guys.

Cheers

Theyr just not using their mics properly, but what you can do, is put the "effects" volume down in bf2 options Audio. And put recive on VOIP on a full 100 % and then putting your computer systems audio to the max.

Hi Wicca

Thanks for your tip. I'll go and do that then.
