I've tried to make a static penetrable, named the map "Penetrable_Wood" in bf editor in map material, but it isn't possible to shoot through it ingame.
A other static i've made is penetrable, and suceeded. I don't know what I made different
I've made a test object just to see if I could make it penetrable but i didn't suceed.
Any tips?

using a penetrable material should make it penetrable.
check your col mesh isn't buggy or anything and best way to check is put a dest barrel on the other side of the wall and shoot though the wall.

Ok I'll try when I get home. But penetrable_wood shouldn't it show exit holes like penetrable_thin_metal? I've used wood in the static that didn't work and metal in the one which did.
The col-mesh shouldn't be buggy since it just a cube in the test object.

BF2 dose not support exit holes, only entrance ones. The bullets and there effects go once they have passed though one penetrable material so if you shoot though a fence onto the ground the other side of the fence, the bullet will hit the ground but you wont see any dust pop up.

BF2 obviously supports exit holes in some materials. Perhaps not for wooden materials?

To me that looks like due to your sign and as such also your col mesh being so thin, that your not in fact seeing an exit hole but instead the entrance hole looks to be just showing though on the other side of the model, I might be wrong but I doubt it tbh.
Try putting that material (penetrable_metal_thin or w/e) on your other static and see if you get exit holes on that

As you see one can see both the exit hole and the entrence hole at the same time, when I shot from a different angle. (The circle is solid, to save polys).
When I get home I'll make a test to determine once and for all how it works.
Providing that, is penetrable statics recommended for gameplay reasons? Will the player notice if fired upon if in a wooden penetrable static house? Will HEAT shells go just through it making no damage?
EDIT:
Oh, I accidently loged into a account I accidently made (the same name as I use on a other forum). I'm Manligheten. Sorry for the confusion

intresting. See what your testing comes up with
And yes, penetrable materials on objects that should be penetrable is good for gameplay

It seems like only metal_thin leaves exit holes.

video dont work, but if that's the case might be worth looking into attempting to give other materials exit holes.

Youtube has some "wait while we encode your video"-waiting time. It's done now.

Ye, highly scientific
I also tested wether a 50 cal would penetrate the metal plate and it exploded after like 50 shots. It made the barrel explode after 1 shot at plaster wall. It seems like penetrable objects removes more or less damage from the bullet.
I wounder if HEAT rounds explodes on the outside of the object like they should or not. I couldn't operate it since a was alone. LATs explodes on the outside, HATs penetrate.

ye, a penetrable material has a value set to reduce damage of projectiles as they pass though them.

Provided the test I didn't have a problem to start with, as Penetrable_Wood was penetrable all along. But at least I sorted that out
