Squad Leader Ratings

As you all know Project Reality has an ever growing commuinity and with this we have few new people to the game that really dont know what they are doing.

With this new players find them selves in roles they should not be in like squad leader tank driver gunner ie.

So i was thinking if we could have a easy 5 star kind of rating system. All you have to do is at end of the round pick a rating for your SL. But u must have more than 3 players in the squad to get rated. When you see a SL in the SL menu u will see the SL rating beside the squads name. How will this system be good? Well a couple of times in the past i come across Sl haveing no MIC and not using the SLs kit(one time an SL had a AA kit on ramiel) and the squad being scatterd across the map beacuse when the Sl has not given any orders and just lonewolfs around the map not knowing whats he is doing it makes the squad do the same and made one less inf squad.

The ranking system will prevent this from happening as people will try and join the high ranked SLs and not join the low ranked sls making one less inf squad (or whatever squad it is)

Good idea, but im pretty sure this falls under hard-coded ;)

Completely hard-coded in the way I think you mean. This would have to be tied to either private ranking seperate from the actual bf2 engine/game or coding created and added into the engine which would have really to be done by DICE devs (aka hard-coded).

You can't say its hardcoded until you or someone else has tried to code it =)

Just because it's not ingame doesn't mean it can't be done. Look at the firebase and building system.

It would be sweet to have, that way people won't lone wolf as much.. hopefully. But thats BF2 for ya.

Anyway, I'd like to see this in PR. If it's possible or not, well we'll just have to see.

Every statistic needs to be stored somewhere. This requires huge amount of server power that this community just don't have.
(seems that even Gamespy is lacking sometimes)
Some game servers use their own server to store statistics, but what your suggesting cannot be done without global network.

I don't see a way of this kind of ranking to be shown ingame

Though it surely could be done via stats on the server's website etc if they used Alternative Battlefield Ranking (does any1 still actually use that?)

Hmmm...I have an idea. There are already scripts for !vk etc being used on some servers.

If there was a centralised ranking database, could !rate <name> <thing, e.g. officer> <1-5> be used to rate them? and then that would be stored in the data base?

and if it is hardcoded, the best thing you can do is get teh xfires of the SLs you liked.

BUT! I'm sure there could be a ranking type thing added to the PR website.

So each profile has a list of kits the user has selected manually in the user CP, and you can rate them on those kits/whatever that they have selected. e.g. I put 'officer' in my profile, and dudes come along and give me 1/5 stars cuz they are stingy buggers. But thats only in leu of a proper ingame version ofc.

Good intention but bad idea. This will lead to less squadleaders as only the most confident people will lead. Being judged by your peers is not for everyone and actually there is a shortage of squadleaders on most servers. Not to mention the exploitability of the system, like clans giving best grade to eachoter.
