MEC is supposed to be a fictitious coalition of some oil-rich states, so I wouldn't necessarily say that. The Eryx has been around for about 10 years or so and is a decent system, however, to my knowledge, it has not been officially adopted by any Mid-East state. I would imagine this is because most of those states already use Russian systems of the same generation as the Eryx.
For example, Syria, one of the most modern armies in the region, uses AT-7/13 wire-guided and and AT-14 Kornet-E laser-guided ATGMs in the infantry support role. They don't have the portability of the Eryx (they need to be ground-mounted and don't possess a "soft-launch" capability), but have nearly double (and in the case of the AT-14, quadruple) the effective range.

Dude, Iraq wasn't poor until the U.S. invaded. It was one of the richest countries in the Middle-East.

Why should they be limited to simply RPG's though? A coalition of the current Middle East nations would net M1A1's, F-15's, SA-10's, F-16's, various MiG's, Sukhois, T-XX tanks, F-14's, etc. in varying condition. If they can have expensive high tech aircraft and crew served vehicles a decent, fairly modern man portable AT weapon doesn't seem like too much of a stretch. Unless you were referring to some kind of fourth smaller faction of rag tag fighters.

I don't see too much of a problem with the Eryx... if only for this reason. The MEC is supposed to be an alliance of nations which have banded together ala NATO/WARSAW Pact for lack of a better analogy. They certainly would be able to reasses the needs of their collective forces and start replacing equipment to give them a better footing against potential enemies.
In the real world the Eryx is a weapon which has been made in some numbers (in 9 years 50,000 missiles had been made along with 3500 firing posts). We know Canada, France, Norway, Brazil and Malaysia have ordered the weapon of course. But probably what the game designers were looking at were reports from 1999 stating that a order had been placed by a customer in the Gulf Co-opertation Council. Below is the info on the GCC which perhaps inspired the MEC?
Cooperation Council for the Arab States of the Persian Gulf
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia.
The Cooperation Council for the Arab States of the Persian Gulf (Arabic: مجلس التعاون لدول الخليج العربية), formerly named Persian Gulf Cooperation Council (مجلس التعاون الخليجي) is a regional organization involving six Middle Eastern nations with the many economic and social objectives in mind. Created May 25, 1981, the Council is comprised of Bahrain, Kuwait, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates.
Among the stated objectives are:

Like I also said earlier, I doubt they would completly ditch RPG's for something else. Terrorists will get whatever they can get their hands on. Mostly whats cheap.
If there are no RPG's thats fine with me, I just like whats realistic.
No, I mean pre-March, 2003. Before the invasion. Iraq's economy was going in the shitter in the early 90's, but after the conflicts of that era, they started to build it (the economy) back up. Iraq wasn't like Taliban-ruled Afghanistan; people had apartments/mid-sized houses to live in. They had jobs and cars, etc.
And I must say, who exactly are you referring to when you say "Terrorists will get whatever they can get their hands on"?

Heres one thing that would be nice...if the bf2 engine allows it.
Looking down to see your legs and feet!!
and full sized tanks.
I would like to see the m1a2 dwarf the russian tanks and infantry only reach halfway up the tank...no infantry man can jump onto the roof of an m1...
oh god that would be great!
