I have nver really had much of a problem with my Mic. Usually, just restart PR, and it works perfectly. But iv encountered a peculiar issue now when i play ever since the .87 update.
It starts off working, and then 20 min later it just stops responding. I press caps lock and check the mic icon to see if when i press TALK it lights up. But no joy. It just completely acts like my talk button broke off.
Tried remapping the TALK button to something else, but that doesnt cut the cheese either. It keeps pooping out, and in dire moments too, lol.
Somebody was telling me that they messed around with clearing out their folders someplace and it fixed a similar issue. Any ideas as to what to do?
EDIT: Once it poops out, it doesnt come back on untill i restart PR. Not even after map change.
EDIT2: No my mute isnt on of course, lol.

Once you installed BF2 1.5 and 0.87 did you delete your BF2 folder in My Documents?

Ok, try deleting it all in my docs and start vBF2 up to make your profile etc.
That worked for me for a few sound related problems.

Which folder exactly?
My Documents\Battlefield 2\mods\bf2\cache
Or delete the Battlefield2 folder all together from the my documents section?

Delete it all from the My Docs section, just easier to re input all your new settings you see.

It looked promising at first. But after like 30 min, it did it again... Im at a total loss. wtf
Is it the new patch? Or is it that im using new speakers? Thats the only change i have, from my 5.1 surround sound, to my 2 crappy speakers. But how would speakers cause mic problems?

If you're running Vista/Windows 7 it might be a bug in one of the sound managing services Microsoft incorporated as a new "feature"(don't remember it's name atm) that keeps buggin out when you use some of your sound cards so called "enhancements" (allthough depending on what sound card you have).
I had this exact problem and the solution was to go to the properties for the sound card and uncheck any use enhacements.
And what sound card do you use?
Check its drivers since that later on solved the same bug/memory leakthingy/whatever it was, for me yet still let me used my enhancements.
And yes, it could be that you're using new speakers that cause the problem. For instance, if you're using any of creatives x-fi cards (and others) it could be the enhacement cmss3d, that work in two different ways when using stereo vs 5.1 (afaik) which might have pooped it up for you some way, I don't know.

I am running Xp media center. My sound card is the sound blaster audiology 2zs i think. No Xifi.
That card doesnt have an update since probably 2004.... Im so completely at a loss right now... im abotu to cry. Il try having ventrillo on and see if i can still talk on there once it cuts out on PR.

Do you have a Creative Console program or anything like that? I used to have a problem like that. When it happened, I would open the Creative Console and try to change modes from "gaming" to "audio" or whatever it was. That would reset the card and make my mic work again.
BTW: It HAS had very recent updates. I recommend installing them...

Hm, didnt notice, last time i ran update drivers was a few months ago.
Well i figured out the problem. It really was my speakers... So instead of having my speakers plugged in, i have to put my headphones in instead.... i think its gay, stupid, and ridiculous... Now i wish i had brought my 5.1 speakers.
Theres no way to get around that issue is there?
