What happened to Mumble?
The RT server is empty most of the time and nobody is on the Mumble server?

Mumble was a fad. Sure it was cool talking to your buddies, but TS or Vent has worked fine for idk how long allowing Squad Leaders to communicate with each other. I admit, its a cool system, but all its prerequisets and problems make it more truble then its worth.

Tell me, how many times do you know exactly what server your going to join BEFORE your start PR?
The answer is(unless your in a clan), almost never.

The first time i used it, it was just me and a friend in the server, and the most we did was run past each other yelling "ahhhhhh". The next 3 I was either alone or it was messed up.

Weird since i have had alot of nice rounds with mumble. YOu sure arent in teh rigth server wh33lman. the RT server when full has 64 mumblers. But you must also take in account that university an dschool has started and people cant just sit an play all day.

There are quite a few reasons why it's been down recenty like FH2, alt tab problems and space going on holiday. Seems to be getting back to normal now though

Mumble's not dead, it's sleeping.

Mumble doesn't sleep. It waits.

Jeez.
There are still people saying that TS is better then mumble. :D Can't believe that.

How stubborn and super-rightwing-conservative can people be?

Superfast transmission (check youtube), supermuch better voice quality, noise filtering which makes the omg-so-good ventrilo sound like a ***** because vent doesnt filter noise, positional audio, being open source - all that makes mumble the BEST VOIP tool out there.
It's the perfect example of how good quality something underground can be.

I have to admit - it has a more professional approach to it's job.
But hey, when somebody says something is better then something else, I expect him to be into computers/voip tools a little bit to make his words worth something - I am and after 5-10 mins I knew every little thing about the client, because it's so simple.

Musicspammers ruin gameplay with mumble?

In TS there were and still are times people play music on it to get on our nerves. But since music on TS sounds like sh*t ppl dont do it so often.
If somebody was spamming on TS you looked for their green light and muted them/kicked them.

What do you do in mumble? You look for his red lips and mute him - wow, I think I'm a genius.

Mumble is not dead at all - tactical gamer server has problems getting full these days and this means that people have other stuff to do then playing PR.

The RT server has been empty for a while. I miss having 64 people on mumble.

I was surprised whenever i saw RT empty most of the time , i think its because people went back to school so its empty almost all the time .. Mumble should be used , and to me personally i dont think it should be compared to TS or any other software , sure their all good but mumble gave PR a whole new level of teamwork !

i hope all the server will implement the use of Mumble on their servers the same way RT did .

I aint been playing much recently myself (been working flat out on some project ;) ) but IMO its down to quite a few factors which most have been mentioned in this topic. People going back to school/collage/uni, some people going on holiday (namely space since he ran RT and would be a big factor for getting the server populated and running) and ontop of that, the biggest of all being BF2 1.5 with it new Alt+tab = CTD feature which many people have mentioned is most likley the biggest reason since what use to happen is people would join a server, then join the correct mumble channel etc too that server and team. The best you can do is know what server your going to join before loading but if the mumble channel has channels for each team and SL channels too for each team, it gets much worse since you can't tell which team your going to be on before joining the server.

I agree Mumble and TS/Vent etc can't really be fully compared. They offer the same basic thing, VOIP but the way each program offers VOIP is totally different. Mumble has the very unique feature of 3D sound which allows a entire team to share a mumble channel and easily talk to only the people you need to, where TS you can't do that without a full channel structure for each squad and channel commanders/wipers etc all setup before hand. For clans, TS/Vent is the much better option but for public play, nothing beats mumble (other than ingame VOIP for squad chat :p )

Last night was PRT night so no1 was really on.

There has been a population decrease accross the board in PR due to many reasons, and that will recover as it always does, and many of those people are mumblers. Myself, I've been working and so tired that if I play I'm **** or I just cant be bothered to play, I expect its the same for a lot of peeps because of uni and school starting etc.

That...and I've started a proper map of my own. :D (I'll make the thread for it this week cuz I've made some nice progress :) )

EDIT -

There are loads of Australians on mumble right now. I love those crazy guys, but my ping is too high to play on ther servers :(

It was gimmicky and on the whole less useful than in game VOIP. I only use it when Rudd asks me to.

I very much disagree. Being able to talk to other squads and players up close was a huge +. For example talking to the pilot of the chopper or driver of an APC on where you wanted to go to when in the back of his chopper/APC without having for you both to type (which for the pilot/driver is not easy when flying/driving) was a god send and mainly things like that. Really opened the box more outside of the squad which before was all you really focused on since thous where the only people you could easily communicate with on a public server.
