[Tut. Req.] Getting Started Modelling with BF2

I apologize in advance if this is in the wrong section.

I've been looking around the forums here lately, particularly in the Modding section; and in doing so, I've become interested in learning how to create models/textures for BF2.

I've read through all the tutorials I found that seemed relevant to learning how to model in BF2, but it seems every author has different methods and programs and because of that it is hard to get started.

I would just like to see a tutorial for an absolute beginner.
Something that answers questions like:
  • best possible 3D editor for working with BF2 (pros/cons?)
  • recommended plugins/tools
  • how to import/export models/textures to/from BF2
As for basic use of the 3D editor itself, that can be found all over the Internet.

there is only one editor for BF2 the one released by Dice.

the best editor would probably be 3DSMAX since most tuts are based around it as well as most of the plugins.

to be able to export/import meshes etc you need the POE bf2 tools (stickied one bf2editor.com)

that is basically everything you need to get started, but note that there are differences in which kind of models you make, vehicles etc will have a seperat texture sheet. but things like buildings, barrels etc will be using a pallette system (look at rhino's tut on this)

that should be all

Max 9 seems to be the most used one, but not sure.

for bf2 models i would use max 9 since there seems to be problems exporting in later versions etc. (what i have heard from rhino) but max 9 64 bit versions seems to have this problem too though. so max 9 32 bit is the way to go
