It did something similar to me when i upgraded to .87 saying i had the older version. I re uninstalled pr completely and reinstalled it and its been fine ever since so you could try that also are you sure you're installing in the right directory?

If you are on 64 bit Windows, you need to install BF2 + PR to C:\Program Files (x86)\. If you install the PR Core to just C:\Program Files\, the Levels installer doesn't think that the Core is installed.

That is incorrect, as far as windows 7 is concerned. I suggest to the OP that they uninstall their old PR, and delete the directory in mods concerned with PR. "pr" if it still remains.

By default the PR installed does install to the correct directory for Win7 - c:\Program Files (x86)\...\...

Uninstall any map-packs you installed for PR also.

You may have installed map-packs etc, so those may remain.

Disable your AV when installing PR also once you have scanned the archive as that can cause some problems with win 7 depending on the product you use.

Install as Administrator - and if you haven't already disabled UAC then do so prior to installing.

Well, it is correct. :) What happens is that the first installer might automatically have C:\Program Files\ as the installer path, and the other installer, possibly, will list a different default install path. That's what happened with me; the core installed to C:\Program Files\ and the Levels folder was set to install to C:\Program Files (x86)\. I'm not sure why that happened. But yes, you can install PR wherever you want, so long as the Core and Levels have the same install path.

i found, that downloading the patches and everything on a computer with xp, then moving to like an external hdd, and then installing fromt here onto your Vista or w7 computer helps a lot. When i dloaded with w7 Pro 64x, it would say i have liek config_client or something errors, but when i used my other patches from my xp machine, it worked well.

Sorry for bringing a thread back form the dead and hijacking as well, but I can't even get PR to install on my computer. I have Win 7 Pro 64 (RTM) and it says something about needing to download either a 32 or 64 bit version of the program from the author. ANyone have this issue? Bad download maybe?
