for some reason when i turn the number of bots up to 48 i get like 5 fps! does anyone know why it does this?

Because the AI is very resource hungry and needs a lot of memory to run the game. Turn down your settings a little, more RAM is always good.

If you look around the PRSP section at the bottom of the main forums you'll find a lot of questions answered.

I run smooth as silk between 80-100 fps with 48 bots, but my dual core proc. at 3.2 ghz is at 80% and I have 4 gb of ram and over 2 gbs are in use - most important is a 64bit OS (vista64 in my case)
