If the MEC are going to hang onto their Russian small arms (which has been thrown into doubt) then they should either standardise on the 5.56mm NATO from their AK-101s or on the 5.45mm Soviet ammunition from the AKS-74Us and RPK-74s. I would suggest the latter as there are no current RPK series weapons chambered for the 5.56 NATO round, althought the AKS-74U could be replaced with the AK-102, with sutibally increased accuracy and reduced recoil due to the superior characterisitcs of the weapon.

Also, if the USMC special operations class is to recive the M4A1 in SOPMOD configuration then I would request that the AKS-74U-UBN, equipped with a PBS-1 suppressor and a BS-1 30mm suppressed grenade launcher replace the AKS-74U currently in the hands of the MEC special operations class.

Also, if the pilot/tank crew class were ever implimented then I would reccomend that the MEC version be armed with the AKS-74U as this weapon was originally desinged to act as a PDW for Tank, Helicopter, etc vehicle crews. Or possibly with either the SR-3 "Vihr" or the 9A-91 9mm compact assault rifles.

In addition, if either the 5.56 or 5.45 is used the the AK-101 should be replaced with either the AK-108 (5.56) or A91 (5.56) or AK-107 (5.45) or the AEK-971 (5.45). This is becuase I dont think that with the oil wealth of the middle east behind them they would equip their troops with weapons that are obviosly inferior to other desinges that could be aquired from the same supplier.

As well as this, the Dragunov should be replaced with the VSS Vintores or VSK-94 on urban maps, as this would provide the MEC with a rifle with similar stealth capabilites and better performance than the US equivelent (I considered asking for the VSSK, but thought it unreasonable). Then again, if you dont want to give them a suppressed sniper system, I quite understand.

Also, the DShK/DShKMs mounted on vodnicks and tanks should be replaced with one of the following:
NSV 12.7mm
Kord 12.7mm
KPV 14.5mm *cough*thisoneyouknowyouwantto*cough*
Just becuase the US uses HMGs from the 1920s dosent mean the MEC shouldnt have the latest Russian equipment.

When the RPG-7 is introduced dont, for God's/Allah's/Thor's/whateverthehellyoubelievein give into the temptation to arm it with the classic PG-7V or PG-7VL rockets. Give it The PG-7VR, one of the latest designes of AT rocket for the RPG-7 and equiped with a tandem warhead. And you know you want to (if possible, of course) give the RPG gunner a choice between AT, thermobaric and fragmentation rockets.

Also, the RPG-22 LAW or RPG-26 LAW (although this is the bunker buster version) could be used by the light MEC AT class (or given to the assault class if the idea of giving them disposable rockets is held onto).

The RPG-7 warheads will include the tandem-warhead PG-7VR and either the OG-7V fragmentation grenade or PG-7VM HEAT grenade. This is not confirmed, but is the most likely possiblitiy at this point in time.

I think it more likely that if the MEC were formed they'd be using Russian imported weapons. It'd be a little suspicious if the MEC put out a huge order for German weaponry...

I suggested it elsewhere that I think the AK-101 ought to be replaced by the AK-74. It seems rather odd that they'd decide to use the 101s in the first place, mainly because they have no reason to be using NATO ammo, especially when the rest of the forces are using the 5.45. Then we just have to swap the Chinese AKs for QBZ-95s to give them their complete lineup of 5.8 ammo.

No offence but those are the weapons in the area now. And if you actually cared to look - most of those weapons are clones under license and so are being produced in country now. MKEK produce not HK

so... anyone know some more modelers? hehe. keep putting out all these great ideas, but i think PR needs more modelers so these ideas can be put more into action!

I'm sorry Mav, I didn't realise they were produced over there. I always thought from playing vBF2 that the G3 looked good in MEC hands, it'd be nice if it could be brought back into PRMM, albeit with a 30 round mag. Everyone's biggest complaint about the G3 in vBF2 was the 20 mag that aaalways seemed to run out in a firefight.

I'm definitely into the idea of them having machetes though, either that or some bigassarabic swords they have on their belts.

I know the DEVs can't touch Xpack material, but last I checked the first tier unlocks came with vBF2. Is there any reason why you're not using the L85A1, PKM, G3 etc, or is there some catch that I didn't see? Either way, why the hell are NAW using every unlock from BF2 in their mod and we're not using any?

give the mec the heavier ak's the 106 or 108.

and the aging UZI would also fit in(not buying directly from the israel, or maybe a procurement from a isreal palistine peace pact maybe other weapons too)

need a story behind the mec really, did they hire russian generals, teaching them russian tactics and thus the heavy use of russian equipment.

Thunder what is your experience of the region? Where are units using 106, 108s?

Look at their military spending reports, security audits on the states, weapons under license etc.

Russia is not exporting weapons atm so they won't be getting any weapons from their - all are creating more professional armies etc -the UZI is not used by any serious army.

Nation wide factory shut downs for export. And the AK101 was, it has never been in Russian hands tbh, but the problem is that the MEC region prefer to manufacture own weapons - and Russian dominance is reducing in the area.

ahh ok, i know the PR team is trying to make a professional looking army, but its hard looking at the weapons out there with out resorting to mass european imports, or old soviet era imports. i also see they are not a mercenary force kitted out with flash weapons.

I quite agree, I'd much rather see the weapons used in the region currently in the hands of the MEC, but at the moment, it seems that there is a desire to use Russian equipment. This is probubly because most people's experience (including my own) is of seeing Iraqi insergents and Afgahan fighters armed with old Russian equipment, not of the professional armies of countries like Saudi Araibia, the UAE, Oman, Iran, etc.

However, I'm still against not having a unified ammunition type for the MEC assault rifles, carbines and squad automatic weapons. For example, with all those H&K clones already in there it cant be too far a strech of the imagineation to give them a HK23E as a SAW.

Are you saying that the German army is not serious? Although I do agree that it should not feature, largely becuase the day of the uzi as anything more than a last dich PDW (and even then it's still not that great) has passed.

The G3 is/was used exstensivly in the middle east at one point (Kiwait's most numerous weapon in the 90's). And the PKM is a nice choice if we are alowed to have that too.

weopons like the uzi are used all over the world...they are more than practical for their purpose - filling a room full of lead and running out of ammo in around ten seconds, mostly used in close protection but doesnt realy have a place in an 'organized','smart' MEC force
