What do people have against Special Forces?

Don't lie. Everyone would love to be a special forces operator, or at least play as one, because it is so fun. Who wouldn't want to be part of a team breaching a facility with tacticool M4A1's have snipers with god knows what watching over, going against hordes of insurgents/OPfor? Yes, Project Reality is focused on modern day frontline infantry in near-future fictional (some) conflicts. Yes, but we all know in
reality there are special forces. It has been discussed and it is known you don't need a special forces kit or 1337 suppressors to do special forces tasks. I agree, but it seems like people don't even want some sort of mod or anything. I would love to see a PR SF minimod, maybe try it, then go back to good old normal PR. It would be a fun experience to have a lopsided map with BLUfor defending a site against hordes of insurgents, or even just a good old 32 vs. 32 SAS vs. Spetznaz.
I am against people wanting the Spec Ops kit back in PR as much as anyone else, and I am all for just playing the game normally, but it would be awesome to have one and I'm sure everyone would want to try it.
FYI, I'm not suggesting anyone actually make this or anything, I was actually thinking of trying it

What about special squad types? If your in a say.. Infantry Assault teams, you get certain weapons while the sniper teams have theirs.
JUST A THOUGHT for future games.

Special forces Vs Special forces would surely just be PR...with slightly renamed teams...and redone textures/models...maybe a larger variety of wapons - alot of work for the same gameplay.
And insurgent vs blufor spec ops would be insurgency on acid...blufor with the best equipment avaliable.
and we can't even have night maps in bf2 due to certain bugs, so night ops are out.
Whats the point? If som1 got all the work done, sure, I'd play, but I don't see it happening.
And alot of people would start saying that deviation etc should be decreased because spec ops guys get better training etc...which is a bad attitude imo since skill is what you make it, not what the game makes for you.
The fabled scenario gamemode might be useful for this...but No new gamemode have survived in PR since Insurgency.

Thats the thing. If this were to be done, I don't think it should be added to PR. It should be a PR minimod, because I would think too many people would just want to play on 24/7 Spec Ops maps. Also before there was discussion about the player to player ratio done in SP (wasn't sure if it was possible or not), which would balance the teams.

The reason people don't like special operations is because they are just too cool. So cool that to play as them seems too easy. I remember going super ninja spec ops running around killing dudes on OGT like crazy.
Oh and rudd's right, its too much shit to get done for little reward.

I agree with you.
Having a game mode where we need to defend something as blufor with ability to take spec ops kit or what so ever.
Either way it would be a good game mode if the blufor had to defend something for a difference.
Btw shame we don't have night maps =(

We had Bi Ming as a night map in 0.6, but was rarely played and everyone kept whining about the map being 'too dark' and not being to able to see anything (had NVGs btw)....so umm yeah, not really keen on it....

Outlawz & Rudd...
I thought you guys had things in the works for nightmaps.
The groundhemi textures that were being looked into looked promising as a way to stop player models from glowing in the dark.
Matrox's
blog looked like it had some interesting lighting ideas which I thought Rudd was playing about with too.
Robbi was helping to 'fix' the NVG's but I'm not sure if that got anywhere...

SF pitched battles are not what mainstream PR strives to portray. However, there is one statement in regards to a certain part of PR, and that is.....

Sadly the titel "Special" attracts just that kind of special people. The kind that Tk's for assets and teamswitches because they want to have the fun right now. Not to mention the baseraping that comes with them or trying to destroy ennemy assets in main etc. etc.
That's my grief with special forces anyways
In the meanwhile you could download PRSP set the bots to 100 and the ratio of bots in their favor, they will steamrol right over you.

What I dont like about Spec Ops in games is how they will always be different to the real world.
Everyone who ever met someone from a Special Forces unit will agree that these guys are extremely diciplined and extremely well trained individuals. Thats what makes them special. Its their ability to perform a variety of tasks in shorter timeframe and under worse conditions than other soldiers would perform them.
But in games the SpecOps kits and tasks will be taken by extremely undiciplined 12 year olds with no mic going lone wolf thinking they are ololololo ninjas.
Beeing an extremely good and well coordinated inf sq that takes the kashan bunkers against 3 enemy sq:
Talking about SpecOps
Giving random people a bit of extra gear and new textures:
Not so SpecOps

Not just Ninjas, olololololo Ninjas!!!

Sweet.
None of this will be happening anytime soon and there is nothing new to talk about which hasn't been talk about before.
CLOSED (until someone feels is is worth discussing)
