Alright so ive been seeing a whole bunch of threads to get rid of move markers attack markers defend markers.. if anything is going to be done about that why not just make a single ( Objective marker)
such as a Simple ( X ) Or a circle ( O ) that indicates what ever the squad leader is telling the squad leaders... the Squad members already have the plan in mind so just having an indication for what ever task would be simple.
( examle ) but with out little flag. and more transparent and Smaller

It's not about generalizing the markers to a single one that is the problem though. It's that everyone has a magical remnant from BF2 akin to the minimap that detracts from tactical usage of communication, landmarks (such as artificial ones like smoke), and allows players to hit targets still from out of view distance.
Edit: Oh, I just realize I've been ninja'd. Well, my edit was ninja'd too. Man I'm off my game today.

Look at this from a IRL standpoint.
IRL you will not have virtual markers right in front of you. Your command vehicles with all the nifty electronics packages will have real time updating maps and even a lot of your standard vehicles have these now. But for joe on the ground he won't have anything.
Except his memory. Before you go out on any mission in the real world you practice it over and over and over and over until you know it forwards and backwards. You will have seen sandtables, Maps, Terrain models, and pictures of objectives. So when you go to do the mission you know that "said" building in the target building or you're supposed to cover "that" corner. The in game markers make up for this and for the inability to point at things in game.
With that said I don't think markers should be changed at all.

I agree with Thermis. With the inability to actually point it would be a pain to call out something as you know your 60 degree is not always your squadmate's 60. I think we should come to compromise on the subject like it disappears after x minutes, but is always visible on the map. Lets say you can reshow the marker by pressing the alt key or some such system.
