I just DLed PR 0.87, but the installer won't run. Double click, and nothing. I got the Core and levels both from File Planet, but it just won't do anything.

Is there a link to the .85->.86 patch anywhere still? Because I have .85, and that seems way easier than redownloading everything.

1. check if .NET framework 3.5 installed. If not not get it on the MS site.
2. disable your antivirus (if any). Sometimes it starts to scan the installation file that takes LOTS of time.

No good. .NET 3.5 is installed and it wouldn't run with my AV disabled.

Doesn't anyone have the 0.85->0.86 patch? Or what should I do now?

Running Vista?
Have UAC on?
It took my installer window upwards of 10 minutes to open. Remember the install files are over 1 gig compressed.
Turning UAC off will speed it up quite a bit, but you will need to reboot to turn UAC on again.
