smoke screen arty

if not hard coded would it be possible to add a large smoke screen arty attack thats on a short recharge for commander to use.

belive it or not, this has not been spoken of for 9 mponthes! i still say its a good idea, expecially whene you need to get out now, and there is smoke ready =P

Its very useful in Operation Flashpoint 2. Could help for any sudden large scale assaults.

OP: DR is horrible. On topic though, I like the idea, but a short recharge? No. You could have a smoke up anywhere at all times, and it would kill gameplay. You can't make it that big either because it would absolutely rape your PC. I'd go for a 30 mins respawn time, but remember not to make it too big.

size isnt the issue, its the amount of particles required. if the devs decided to use a small amount of larger particles (which wouldnt look that great) they can make it very large. whereas if they wanted it to look good and use alot of smaller particles it would need to be much smaller.
current size of the jdam smoke cloud could work just make it not kill anyone unless it lands within 2 metres of you

Artillery makes huge smoke clouds as it is. Changing them to a proper color and removing damage from the shells will change nothing. In terms of memory/graphics.
I figure it might be useful.

The bad thing is u would have to wait 20 mins for a smoke screen instead of real explosive rounds, The spawntime for arty must be lowered

FH2 has that. it is quite useful when you're in the arty and you see that friendly troops are near your target you switch to smoke and give them cover.
