Increase Sniper Rifle Accuracy

Often to make headshot I need to aim at chest, so I can not be sure to hit precisely :(

An SVD has a 2MOA accuracy.

This means are say 200 yards it has a variance of up to 4 inches. Which means that effectively if you aim for the jaw line at 200 yards you may hit the chest.

But I know what you are saying - I think you are saying that at 200 yards you are hitting him in the middle of the torso when aiming at the head. This is probably because some weapon variance setting is incorrect.

To be prefectly honest i can snipe much, Much better with the m16 than i can with any of the sniper rifles in game, thats my only beef with the sniper rifles.

The sniper rifles in the game don't really reflect their real life counterparts' true accuracy. The M24 supposedly has sub MOA accuracy, but in game the closest you can get to that is by sitting still for a few minutes then firing. The cone of fire needs to be decreased a lot, 1MOA = 1/60th of a degree deviation, i think. The M24 should have perfect headshot accuracy within 1km, and as BF2 maps rarely let you see that far anyway, the M24 should be going whereever you aim. The Dragunov should similarly give you perfect accuracy within 250m, which again is pretty much as far as you're going to be shooting in game, the Type 88 would probably be similar too. The L96A1, when added with the UK, should definitely have perfect accuracy over any distance, even better than that of the M24.

Despite all the 'shoulds', I still have a lot of luck with the current sniper settings. The M24 is basically one hit kill from most ranges and I love picking off my targets with it. Can't wait to see the L96A1. :D

M24 MOA is 0.5 realistically in battle.

So at 1km we are talking 6 inches of deviation. This means a shot aimed at the head SHOULD hit a target's head at up to 1km.

Why are you aiming for the head in the first place? Chest shots kill in PR, unless it's the Druganov. And then, headshots are just a waste of ammo.

The only problem I have with the current sniper rifles is when the guy is on a vehicle top machinegun. I was playing single player the other day and you know how those bots are likely to stand still for a long time sometimes. He was on a US light jeep turret and I could see almost his entire body. I was prone and I couldn't hit him, no matter how much I waited for my aim to stabilize.

However, when ppl are outside vehicles they are just dead meat to snipers.

Not to get this off topic, but that is a singleplayer bug. It doesn't have to do with the sniper rifles in particular. Offline, about half the time you shoot a vehicle gunner, it doesn't do any damage, with any weapon. I've unloaded 3 M16 magazines into them. It just doesn't work sometimes. I don't remember seeing this online though.

I can take them out easily with an M-16, but not with a sniper rifle..

And yes, it feels very pleasant =)

I never miss with my M24 any more. One shot, one kill, and most of the time it's a headshot. I'm aware body shots more often than not do score kills, but the head will never fail. I always do this with the SPR on those urban maps as for some reason the SPR is insanely innaccurate for a DMR, compared to the Dragunov and Type 88 anyway.

I used to sniper rifles in PR about twice, i kept missing so i stuck with the assault rifle.

... idk how you guys miss all the time, M24 in .2 was better then .3 though.

I disagree. In my experience, looking through the scope in a proned position, aiming at my target for about 5 seconds and pulling the trigger always results in a kill. .25 had some crazy deviation, but even .3 is less accurate than it should be.

I think - and this will sound stupid - but practice is the key, I play sniper a lot and now I get kills pretty much within 2 shots everytime

But it should be the first shot for a sniper rifle, whats the point in using one if you kill them at pretty much the same rate as an assualt rifle? tis' why i never play sniper, whats the point if ill end up helping my team alot more as assualt or medic?

I don't always get 1st shot as a head shot so I don't get a kill, plus within 2 shots may include one range finder

Plus with a semiauto sniper rifle your first shot is always off

The first shot is the only one that hits for me, at least with the dungov's bigtime recoil.
