United States Army using Ka-Bars?

Just wondering why on the US Army weapon slots, the knife is listed as a Ka-Bar. It's shaped like a KaBar too (The model). Doesn't the Army use the M9 Bayonet and only the Marines use the Ka-Bar?

You're correct. The reason they both have Ka-bars is because it was put in-game quite a few releases ago. Back then, we were still using the generic "US Armed Forces" from vBF2 and had not made the distinction between Army and Marines.

Nobody uses the kabar. Both use the M9 bayonet.

honestly we really don't use knives at all. most of us carry a gerber multitool, and maybe a seatbelt cutter. if anyone wants a big knife they buy their own and carry it. even then is will mostly likely be a 3-4" gerber or benchmade. the bayonets arent even issued anymore. acctually I am pretty sure they bayonet training has even been taken out of basic. on the army side.

Both use the M9, and not for combat purposes.

A British article published on May 17, 2004 reads:
"OUTNUMBERED British soldiers killed 35 Iraqi attackers in the Army's first bayonet charge since the Falklands War 22 years ago.
The fearless Argyll and Sutherland Highlanders stormed rebel positions after being ambushed and pinned down. Despite being outnumbered five to one, they suffered only three minor wounds in the hand-to-hand fighting near the city of Amara.
The battle erupted after Land Rovers carrying 20 Argylls came under attack on a highway. After radioing for back-up, they fixed bayonets and charged at 100 rebels using tactics learned in drills.
When the fighting ended bodies lay all over the highway and more were floating in a nearby river. Nine rebels were captured. An Army spokesman said: This was an intense engagement. The last bayonet charge was by the Scots Guards and the Paras against Argentinian positions."

And thats why you can put a bayonet on the SA80 ingame
be better if we could leave it on and be able to shoot/stab in quick succession tho

Bayonets are still issued and training is still conducted, last time I checked. As far as fighting knives go though it's up to the individual solider. Most guys will carry their own personal knife with them and those vary from KABAR type knives to small automatic knives based on personal preference. Some units have SOPs on the types of knives that can be carried but thats different from unit to unit.

No real army drops the assault course. It's too vital to morale, training and motivation.

well, what i'm gettign from new guys coming straight from ft benning infantry school is that they dropped the bayonet for more MOUT type training. and in the past 3 years i have yet to be issued a m9bayonet. only a gerber multitool

What if we're in combined operations and we need you to bayonet charge with us? What will we do then, eh?

It might be that it's Unit or MOS specific now, and training is conducted at AIT or at the unit level. Whats your MOS?

An automatic knife is a knife that is spring operated and opens with the touch of a button automatically. They are illegal in most US states and in most cases only available to military or law enforcement personnel.
