Hello Project Reality. I'm trying to install the game (both multi. (Core + levels) and Single Player (Singleplayer + Levels)) but I'm having trouble with .Net Framework 3.5. I can't install it, because it says the server couldn't be contacted.

It's causing me great distress, PR, and I really do want to play. The AI, the osprey (damn that osprey looks hot!) and everything else just seems so much more fun. The teamwork videos, too, are great. It's just this. I'm not sure what problems could lie ahead of this one, but it's really annoying.

Are you connected to the net? Assuming you are seeing as you're posting The IP target is your local PC's IP :s

I had the same problem as you for ages mate, I had to unistall all frameworks again with a program (link will be posted if needed?) and reinstall all of them again and it worked fine for me. So if the thing doesnt work what Gaz said ill be happy to send the link once ive found it.

I sighed.

Microsoft.com is a total jackass to me. Can't install anything from there. I'll keep trying.

You can't install....as in you don't have a genuine windows install?

Well PR is basically a multi-player ONLINE game.
Net framework is the latest version/standard for networking between servers/clients among its other benefits:

The framework's Base Class Library provides a large range of features including user interface, data and data access, database connectivity, cryptography, web application development, numeric algorithms, and network communications. The class library is used by programmers, who combine it with their own code to produce applications.
Bottom line:
The .NET Framework is a Microsoft offering and is intended to be used by most new applications created for the Windows platform.
By providing a common 'tool box' Framework 3.5 helps make better, faster and more secure network communications possible at a much lower output in time and money for (game)developers.
That's time and money better spent on making kick *** games.
Overall I'd be inclined to think that's a good thing.

Can't the PR team make an all-in-one installer?

It should ask near the start "Oh, by the way, do you want to download the single player as well?" or something.

I just want something that's easier to use, having to install two files twice and another just to get Single and Multi player is pretty annoying. .Net Framework 3.5 never wants to install when it comes to PR's .NF 3.5 installation. Server can't be reached, couldn't contact Microsoft.com, etc

My friends suggested that I do a virus scan. I do this, THREE times before every installation to catch them out. Always works. ALWAYS. There was no viruses or spyware, so the Installer is being very annoying to me.

Yes of course they could make an all in one installer. The only fly in the ointment would be the size of the download(3.19Gigs).
The decision to split into two parts was to make it easier to manage for the user!
PRSP has always been a separate deal put out by a few dedicated dev in their spare time and like
PRMP is 100% FREE.

ModJive is an application that allows users to view and download the latest available modifications for Battlefield 2 and Battlefield 2142. It will automatically install the mods and later update them for you when new versions are released. It is the essential companion for every Battlefield player!
Doesn't get much easier than that.

I found the Modjive Express worked with Vista
It hasn't been updated in a while, so your mileage may vary.

ModJive Express does, but the normal one won't.

That Z icon in the start panel is Zone Alarm, isn't it?

Then I'm pretty sure it's blocking the .NET installer from accessing the net.

I don't see how, exactly. How can I make it so it's not?
I've turned my FireWall off countless times, it just won't install.

.net framework installations can be screwed up - i found on other forums that its suggested to remove older versions of .net before installing the 3.5

oh and Gaz is right - its got to be a legal copy of windows and "activated"
