[Question] Maps & 0.9

Open question,
does anyone know just how many new maps will be brought to PR along with 0.9?
We know that IDF will bring at least 1.
If the germans make the cut there will be at least 1 more.
What else is in the pipeline?
Ofc Ive been checking out both the community map forum, and the factions themselves. But it is never easy to get a full overview.
Almost every faction brings its own maps, but only the germans and the IDF seems to be likely to be in 0.9?
Will this make new maps limited to 2/3 new maps along with 0.9?

German faction for v0.9 - No.
Number of maps - Dont want to give exact numbers, because many maps may not get completed, but at least 7 new maps (and 7 old maps moved) and maybe more but dont count on it.
IDF and CF for v0.9 - More than likely.

7 old maps removed? Do we really need to remove so much?

Will probably not be completly removed, though it'd be skirmish only, for clan fights.
I can't really elaborate.

I just don't understand the reasoning behind removing maps.
Let the servers run the maps which they and their community likes and remove those they don't like from the maproll.
I would actually love to even have a BF2 Vanilla server just for shits and giggles with all those maps there. Not that I'd play it alot but I don't understand the reasoning behind removing maps which have been put work into and which people like.
Seven Gates is a pure masterpiece in my opinion and one of the few maps which allows for a defensive strategy. But it doesn't matter what I like or don't like. The server admins and their community should decide that for themselves. Not you, me or anyone ellse.

none of those maps are fun anymore imo. maybe kufrah is ok but it has the flaw of being too small makin inf. a very easy target for the APCs (also they gotta take out the old maps so ppl play the new ones)

i can give you at least 1 reason, size of release, i randomly picked up 7 maps in pr folder and overall its ~360mb
some of maps really lacks in its quality, back in the days they were fine, but now gameplay changed, quality standards are also risen

This is true but that doesn't mean they should be removed. Let them stay in some "map booster pack" and let those servers who like them use them. While those who don't want to play on them don't do that.
I don't see the conflict of interest here.
Rather get kicked out 2-3 times for not having a certain map (or wait a hour extra to download them) than lay to waste several hundred hours of work from different people in total.

Still Ejod and 7 Gates are pretty great maps. Ejod was the first PR map I ever played, several years ago. And it still offers great gameplay. I can understand taking out Al Kufrah, as it seems to be more or less a miniature Kashan that made infantry little more than useless.

Ejod is one of the best maps, and the best team.

Let them stay in some "map booster pack"
Remember, we already have a Retro Map pack. Nothing speaks against having some of those maps in a new Retro Pack so they can still be played.

Superb then. I thought these would be removed completely.
So do you know any german/european server that plays retro maps btw?

EJOD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I mean i can understand Al Kufrah or 7 Gates however i cant really understand why EJOD. Will it at least come back one day in a redone version?
oh and what about Asad Khal? Will it remain the same or is it switching to IDF and HAMAS (as seen in the teaser)

Removing maps is imho only viable if they are severely hurting the overall standard of the release thus making it slip in regards to things such as Mod of the year etc.
Anything else is just pure nonsense.
Noone will ever complain about the seize of PR. (on a side note: The bigger the better)
Specific players have specific oppinions about specific maps.
That makes regards to individual maps (and players) somewhat obscene.
Imho, no map should ever be removed from the pack (unless this violates above). The community is the best in the world (I dare say), and are perfectly fit to choose which maps are good to play.
What I am trying to say in the nicest way possible is this:
There is no need for developers to decide what maps should and should not be played.
The developers control the assets of the maps, thus they are empowered to alter the gameplay of the map to their liking thereby making every map compatible with the current goals the developers have for the mod.
Fact of the matter is, that if a map doesnt play well, it wont get played.
EJOD is way older than Karbala, I dare say that both maps are played equally often on most servers.
The players will always play the best maps often, but since the opponions concerning map quality are so diverse, it seems a little unfair for the devs to claim a map unfit for a version (unless it violates previously stated).
