Hi, everyone. I was wondering what could be causing fps drops in certain spots in-game? my fps are mostly high all around, but in some spot, they drop when looking at diffirent things, "smoke, walls" anyone have a clue what could be really causing this? my settings are on all high execpt for, "terrian, texture" which are both set to medium. then i have AA seto to 4x. all setting are on high. and aound is set to high on software mode.

My specs are;FPS 400 watt PSU, 1.5 gigs of 5300 667mhz DDR2, Sapphirre radeon 4650 512mb, AMD athlon 64 x2 2.2ghz each, seagate barracudda 7200 sta 2 80 gig, gigabyte ga-m61sme-se, and running windows xp 64-bit edition.

I also have hardly any proccess's running before game, and i have a lot of services disbaled for optimal performance. i do ant-virus\spyware scans weekly.

Thanks in advance.

search for 'bf2 cleaner' in google, download, install and clear the cache...worked for me ages ago with this problem.

also just wondering in what config you have the RAM in??? Is it 2 sticks with one being 1 gb and one being 512mb?

if this is the case i suggest either upgrading to a decent 4gb 2 stick kit or jsut buying another 1 gb stick and using your 512mb as a paper weight.

having different sized ram sticks can cause some problems like this.

This isnt really a problem. If your sitting in a room looking at the floor your going to get a lot higher fps then if your on a mountain looking down at lots of trees/buildings/other.

Ya, I have 2 different stick. One is 512, and the other is 1gig, but both are same speed. I was thinking about getting a 2gig kit. I'll try that bf2 cleaner. thanks.

using two sticks from the same company, same speed and same size are better than different ones.

Ya, I was going to get that, but its hard finding ones that can be used on this motherboard. Motherboards are picky when it comes to dual-channel memory configuration.
