Good. But isntead of putting artificial limits on what weapons soldiers can use, simply make them less effective. IRL if you are out of ammo and taking fire is your squad role going to prevent you from picking up a M249 or SPR and at least taking a shot at the enemy, no. But, you would be much less effective. Players using weapons other than their original weapon weapons of the same/similar make. So yes I could be a riflemen and pick up a SPR and start taking pot shots, but accuracy would be greatly decreased. But let's not forget that the US Army familiarizes all troops in the use of weapons such as the M249 and M203, as well as the standard M16. So it would not be as drastic of a difference for those, but seeing as you would be acustomed to the weapon you're usualy assigned you would be less accurate with it.

Picking up an entire kit messes it all up. If you choose Medic, and then change your kit for another, and hes not a medic, you were just made a medic for no reason. Especially if there are class limits.
However, so you cant create your little custom "supersoldier" by being able to pick up any old weapon, you should only be able to pick up weapon types like yours. If your a Medic with and M16 you can only pick up assault rifles. No sniper rifles, no anti-tank launchers, no MG's etc. ONLY your weapon type.
I feel it is unrealistic with kits because when you pick them up you are suddenly trained for being an engineer, or a medic, or a sniper, etc.
This is not realistic. Like UD said, you should be able to pick up any weapon if you have to but accuracy would perhaps be affected.
I believe that there will not be weponskits lying about in the maps but will be concentrated in armories or ammotransports where you can go to resupply if you have to. R-Devs, have I got that right?

Weapon packs, packs/piles/heaps, whatever, randomly sprinkled across a map.
What you should have to do when you're low on ammo is to locate an armory or to call for resupply which would then have to be driven out to you by truck or airdropped. Ofcourse if there are heaps of dead friendlies close to you you could try to search their bodies for ammo and/or pick up a weapon. There is another thread about this here :-->
