Why are there less and less vehicles specifically?

This questions been bugging me for a while, but like the title, why ARE there less vehicles, and why do they keep decreasing?
Then again insurgents really don't have a shitload of vehicles, but why do the modern armies in the mod seem so outnumbered time and time again?
What kind of reasoning does the PR team have for a change like this? I can't really see why any "realistic" army of any kind would be trying to take land with a few APC's and jeeps. (perhaps the two-HAT per team may be for this reason so they can cripple a teams mechanical resources with a few shots, or maybe they are just too powerful and had to be halved.)
I little info on this, thank you

You cant have half the team in APC's..
You need infantry, and infantry forms the core of a battleforce so theirs always more infantry than vehicles.
Also maps are smaller.

Though I can argue with asset choice and numbers on particular maps on particular levels I think the assets in general are quite well chosen in the context of ensuring a combined effort between infnatry and vehicles rather than every tom **** and harry inside armour.

Agreed with this statement entirely. I feel that the asset balance for the majority of maps is very well thought out, and the assets in-game feel very appropriate for the maps that we have.
There have been numerous threads on this topic, below is one of the more extensive ones. Have a read and im sure you'll be somewhat enlightened.

i agree with the op. i really dont understand the lack of gunship choppers and tanks in maps. i know people may think they are overpowered, especially when you are an insurgent/taliban force, but i still think no matter how seemingly "overpowered" one side may be, they can still be defeated by a semi competent opposing force.

well, in my opinion I believe there is a lack of light vehicles e.g. humvees. They just don't seem to last very long, and there aren't enough to do tactical stuff with them, though I have seen on many cases like sunset city and ramiel where jeep convoys have been deadly.

True. Also, don't you have enough to see three full squads at main waiting for apc, tanks or whatever and only seeing two little squads capping flags actually ?
I noticed there is a lack of transport vehicules (apc rush to kill and don"t care to take people along its way) used in a lot of servers. Furthemore, when a map is about to start, they are usually 6 small locked squads for assets and only 2 real infantry (not counting snipers squads lol).
Certainly won't agree in adding more vehicules

If there could be more than 64 players on a server surely you'd see many more vehicles. I like it as it is now, infantryman is my favorite role anyway.

The lack of vehicles is generally down to player ignorance more than low asset numbers - placing vehicles in vulnerable spaces or abandoning them in favour of going on foot (really if you picked up the vehicle you should stick with it till it's lost - Also, why do people always jump off the .50, it's one of the most valuable weapons in any situation)
On insurgency maps it's also down to the prevalence of IEDs, which are very common/never miss and are hard to see (I made a suggestion on this
https://www.realitymod.com/forum/f18-pr ... -ieds.html)
Vehicles are partly down to the size of maps, I'm not big on fixed wing air support unless they take away the punish zone outside the map, and they don't scale very well with the anti-aircraft weapons in play. Really I'd consider 4km the minimum map size for attack helos. Maybe if more 4km maps are created we'll see some more attack choppers etc.

I think that the lack of vehicles is a problem on some maps and that a good thing to add to smaller maps is just one apc or ifv. I think it's a little silly why we have maps with either 0 or 3-4 a side minimum.
A good example of this is bi ming which has trucks but not an ifv, seems a little silly considering that modern armies are pretty much fully mechanized.

a IFV on bi ming ? who would crew that? it wouldnt be able to move anywhere and would get raped.

I'd think it would be kinda hot seeing a IFV driving away on the rivers of bi ming

*remembers those chinese APC's and how silly they were during night.*
I don't see any problem with vehicle loadouts. They're fine and more Humvees would just mean more 1man lonewolfing taxis going to waste.

i totally agree that on smaller maps such as sunset city/7gates there needs to be an APC,,, really dont understand why there isnt one on sunset city,, there used to be one on 7gates and that map was pretty sweet with it now it is jus a boring game of defend/attack the castle
