I've been working on this for almost a week now, so i thought I'd post it up.

Even though NZDF primarily use the U1700L, I've been modeling the U4000 because we don't have enough references of the U1700. The ones we do have show that they are similar so we will convert the U4000 to a U1700L once it is complete. The U4000 model will also be available to community factions that use the Unimog.

Here's the real thing:

Awesome work
Tris are a bit high but that can be reduced :D

Nice work frenzy. I'm sure that a bunch of other community factions will appreciate this model as much as i do. Keep up the great work, keep me posted :D

Im not an expert on these trucks so sorry, if this is a stupid question.
Is the U4000 model the same as a Unimog 435 ? they look very similar.

Looks nice, but to me it looks like it's low on details? I'd give it some more, but then again, I'm not a modeler and textures and bumpmaps can do a lot of good of course.

Every thing that is pointed out whit red lines can be removed looks like to me, whit out losing a lot of detail ;)

Yea lol, didn't pay much attention to tris till today. Didn't realise how much they'd gotten away on me
Went through and got rid of useless polys, got the tri count down to 5624.

They are very similar, but Im fairly shure they're not identical.

Yea I'll get round to removing the symmetry lines when I'm finished up with the rest of the model :-)

Majority of the details are still to be added :) There will be quite a lot of small stuff bump mapped on, but also more detail added. The cover on the back of the truck is material so textures should look after that part of the detail.

ingame no ones stares in front of vehicles seeking for screws, fins and every thing else, transfer all these details via bump mapping, and make PR run a little bit smoother...

I would, I cream myself when i see a detailed truck model in game. ;)

It makes them look good, and most importantly, as realistic as possible, and as long as it's under the general limit of polys and tris it should be ok.

looks like the front is higher than the back in relation to the wheel and mud guard. Plus could we round the top of the fabric easier?
