Installing The Game

I am not so computer savvy and am afraid if install to the wrong place than something bad will happen. I am sorry for my ineptness but if some one could tell me where to install that would be great.

Make sure you have the new 1.5 patch for original BF2 then...
1. Download & Install - PR 0.87 CORE
2. Download & Install - PR 0.87 Levels

Was running v85. Didn't get around to updating until now. v87 requires v86 to be installed, so I got 85-86 incremental patch (300+ bloody megs!). Had some problems during installation telling me it couldn't read some files. Retried. Nothing, so I just ignored in order to complete the install. When I start the 87 install, it cancels saying I need the v86 patch.
Assuming this is because I ignored during v86 install. Now what?
(Would prefer to avoid having to install from scratch, as I don't have unlimited dl megs.)
