UAV Starting location

I have Searched the Suggestions thread and nothing came up about this.

Would it be possible to have the starting location of the UAV on certain maps like Muttrah and other Amphibious assault maps some where closer to land because on Muttrah something like 40% of the time is spent getting eyes on land.

Just a thought, would like some feedback from people in the know...

Makes sence as the UAV would be deployed before the main force to recce the area.

So it would be in a reasonable location to gather intel for the commander.

Agreed, like this suggestion

I think the 10min on, 10min off, thing should go. Just give the commander the UAV for the whole round. Unless it's unrealistic for a UAV to stay in the air for 3hrs.

Not sure which UAV the yanks are using in PR but:
The Reaper can stay airborne for up to 14 hours fully loaded.
The Predator can maintain a 40 hours patrol over a large area
Source

That is a good idea, constant UAV would be sick...some zoom wouldn't hurt either.

Probably the ones you linked, seeing as we invented and built them :-D

I dont see any point in it. Troops landing in a hostile port have to worry about other things than setting up a UAV that can be easly launched from the carrier.

The suggestion has nothing to do with who launches it, just where it spawns in on the map.

It is annoying on maps like Muttrah to wait for a not insignificant portion of the UAVs flight time so it can actually see anything.

i agree with bad mojo, make it available for whole round but it should be easier to shoot down with the AA,,, most of time people are never looking for it so award the people that find it and make it earier to be able to kill

i know what you mean but by launching it from the port then that means troops on the port launch it. "spwaning" in PR means launching it i guess. u know what i mean? nothing randomly spwans on the front lines in PR ;)

Welllll.... in terms of UAVs for the usmc, we're talking craft that are designed to take off in the USA, circumnavigate the globe to a combat zone, and remain on station for at least 10 hours.

The fact that you only get one for 10 minutes is a balance change, so you should be able to use as many of those minutes for useful intel gathering instead of transit time to your desired viewing area.

i dunno... its part of the battle and you have to deal with it frankly. when i get into my T72s on kashan it takes me a while to get around (i know that has nothing to do with this but w/e lol) im just sayin that spwaning a UAV in middle of a battle field just dosent work.

I'd like to see some zoom to be honest. The UAV is close to useless on maps like Fools Road where everything is covered by trees, except for armor movements.

Yeah man but I'd like to see the Fire Scout (in my avatar) put in..helicopter UAV ftw.
