Clipping

Everytime I seem to run behind cover, I seem to get hit after I am behind cover for some reason. Is this due to bullet richocet(sp?) because my ping is usually around 40-50 and doesn't seem to be lag and I still get hit after going behind cover which is really weird and annoying. There really is no point in having richocet in the game since it is already hard enough to have a good fire fight from behind cover or around corners.

ye i get this now and again even when i have pings of 20 odd. I think that the server just thinks you are still standing up and aint yet registered that you are down. Not alot we can do about this.

Its called "Hit-Box Lag"

I find it a feasible explanation that hit boxes can clip through objects though i'm not quite sure. Try standing a good 6 or 7 inches away from cover and see if it happens.

No it usually happens when I am sprinting to cover and sometimes when I am behind cover. It is bad because if you want to run to cover and know you are behind the wall, you still get hit. This is starting to somewhat remind me of the bad CSS hitboxes.

yep, I see the same thing regularly. you think you've got behind cover, then bullets his the cover you just died behind and you get hit and die. this is an EA coding issue, another example of how they failed to create a tight enough game.

DICE used a very rudimentary form of hitbox tracking similar to that of Counter-Strike Source, although not nearly as well implemented. The game doesn't use where you are in your POV to tell where you're it, but rather where other people see you.
For example, you may duck a quarter-second before a sniper fires, but you still die. Why? Because the server's packets don't go fast enough to tell the server that you ducked, and you die before the information reaches the server and is processed. Therefore, you die before the server can be updated with your last-minute movement.
Another example: I've bunnyhopped over a PKM gunner and landed behind him, and will die from him shooting without him even looking at me; I'm behind him. The reason? From the PKM gunner's point of view, I died, and that information was sent to the server before the information that I jumped did, considering he fired before I jumped. Meaning, I died. Plain and simple. It's unfair, but that's the way it is, and can't be changed unless you want an entire rewrite of the BF2 netcode.
Overall, a server has more dicatorship powers than a client's computer, meaning what the server says happens is what happens, regardless of what either client's computer says to it. It's not ricochets, but it can just as easily be written off as one for realism purposes.
Yes, another glitch that needs to be addressed is the fact that a proned soldier's legs will fall through a wall. I wonder if this can be fixed or if it's impossible. Time will tell.

Omikron, that's called "lag compensation" and it's a major improvemet to online games. It's implemented since Half-life 1 and its mods and it allows you to hit a moving target without the need to aim forward him. Without that feature you would never hit a moving enemy in PRMM over the internet, since in PRMM you have ballistics and all.
As for beeing hit after getting cover, that happened to me too, but later I realized that I was bleeding from my previuous fight instead and not beeing hit behind my cover. It's not due to lag compensation unless you have a high ping.

I get this quite alot, if I run round a corner for cover when taking fire, I will die when I am completley around the corner. I can even notice it when I am the killer, like I shoot at someone, they run around a corner, I will go check it out and they will be dead, happens too much for it to be a coincidence of someone else firing at them aswell.

It's the bleeding

I dunno about that, Can you take a certain amount of damage so that you will bleed for like 2 seconds then die?

Yes. With the MEC sniper rifle I killed ppl this way several times. I hit 1 or 2 shots and they try to hide but die shortly after.

Just yesterday though, I was in the ditch near the stream on mastuur, and when a vodnik was above me I poped up to shoot him. He instantly turned his turrent and before I even heard the fire, I was back in my ditch and I couldn't see him at all. I even had time to think I got away and was waiting for him to come down to kill him. Then 2 seconds later, I instantly died without bleeding before or notice.

"lag compensation" that is a clever word, but its true! If you have a low ping your ping with average out with the highest ping in the server. Thats whey you need to cap your PING on the server to 150 - 180.

its funny (as in strange).....i have never got this problem. the only thing that happens to me which sort of relates to this is you get hit and then have about 3 small sections on the healthbar and then bleed to death within like 5 seconds....this sounds amazingly nooby but i swear it says somehwere on the box of BF2 that you can get behind some cover and still be shot
oo found it....

if im wrong cant help me for trying

i hate how your legs come through the building...
